Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Thiazolidinones and Thioxothiazolidinones Derived from Substituted Indole
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The manuscript is submitted as review paper and describes the synthesis and characterization of thiazolidinones and thioxothiazolidinones.
The synthesis of A and B series has already been reported, by 3 from the authors of the submitted manuscript. Abdelmadjid Benmohammed, Nawel Rekiba, Yassine Sehanine, Ahmed Amine Louail, Omar Khoumeri, Mokhtaria Kadiri, Ayada Djafri, Thierry Terme & Patrice Vanelle Monatshefte für Chemie, 2021, 152, pages977–986
Thus, the authors should prepare a new manuscript based on the C series and resubmit it in molbank as communication.
Author Response
First of all, we would like to express our gratitude to the referees for their careful examination of our work. We have considered the reviewer’s comments on our manuscript carefully and have made some changes to address the comments of reviewer’s where appropriate. We will now give a detailed response below:
Thank you very much for your comment on this. The work submitted to Molbank is a continuation of the work published in Monatshefte für Chemie, 2021, 152, p. 977-986 for the A and B series. This reference has been added in the references section.
However, not all the molecules of the A and B series are described in the literature, so that a description of these compounds in Molbank is more than justified.
The antimicrobial activity of all synthsized compounds will be evaluated for antibacterial activity in vitro against Gram-positive and Gam-negative bacteria. These preliminary results indicate that some of these newly synthesized compoonds show a promising antibacterial potency. This will be published soon in European Journal of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences for example.
More, English has been carefully proofread, typographicals and gramaticals errors have been corrected.
Please note that all corrections and changes made have been highlighted in yellow in this revision.
Reviewer 2 Report
Some new indole derivatives were synthesized through a simple and direct way.

Reviewer 3 Report
Dear Authors,
The manuscript ID: molbank-1373344 entitled “Synthesis and characterization of novel thiazolidinones and thioxothiazolidinones derived from substituted indole” written by Nawel Rekiba, Abdelmadjid Benmohammed, Sofiane Khanoussi, Ayada Djafri and Jérôme Thibonnet is devoted to new protocol for the preparation of indole substituted thiazolindinones or rhodanines.
The whole manuscript (Introduction, Results and Discussion, Materials and Methods, Conclusions and References) is properly organized and well written. Introduction contains general data on indoles, which are an important class of heterocyclic compounds. The purpose of the work is interesting. Appropriate materials, procedures and methods were used to the synthesis of 1-substituted-1H-indole-3-carbaldehydes, thiosemicarbazones, thiazolidin-4-ones and thioxothiazolinones. As a result, a series of novel thioxothiazolidinone, thiazolidinone or thiosemicarbazone derivatives containing an indole-based moiety were designed, synthesized and developed in good yields. Results were presented in the form of schemes, and adequate conclusions were drawn. I agree with the Authors that the antimicrobial activity of these molecules should be determined.
I have only very small suggestions in order to improve paper, which are the following:

In my opinion, this manuscript is worth publishing in “Molbank”.
With highest regards,

Round 2
Reviewer 1 Report
The manuscript can be accepted for publication after a minor correction in the conclusion: the development of new protocol refers to C series. Series A and B were synthesized according to the procedures described in ref 35.
Author Response
Revision effected in the conclusion.
