Hericium erinaceus Promotes Anti-Inflammatory Effects and Regulation of Metabolites in an Animal Model of Cerebellar Ataxia
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
A very good paper, with very clear and definite answers, impressive array of methods and well-thought conclusions.
The 3-AP model could be a little better defined as pathophysiology and evolution.
What is the cause of the deficits observed, in the model? There is a reference attached to the model, but also one phrase concerning the model would in crease the readability.
Is it a definitive condition? Do the animals recover spontaneously after the injection or they remain definitively impaired? Is there a natural healing process or not? One phrase would reduce the uncertainty.
Lines 90 ... How many administrations? one daily? during 21 days? isn't it a little harsh from the inflammatory point of view? All animals remained healthy and no local sign of inflammation appeared? The stress of daily ip injection might bias the results of the behavioral tests, and also the general state of inflammation...
Generally, an impressive paper. Can be published as it is.

Reviewer 2 Report
The manuscript is devoted to the mechanism of action of biologically active substances of Hericium erinaceus in a 3-AP rat model of cerebellar ataxia. The manuscript contains the results of the behavioral tests, gene expression study, quantitative determination of basal pathways metabolites. The authors found an improved motor function associated with normalised neurotransmission and metabolic pathways.
It should be noted that the manuscript is well-structured, contains adequate graphical material.
The manuscript can be recommended for publication without corrections.
