I enjoyed working with MDPI. For my original article, the editors found four reviewers in a short time who I think were consistent, strict, and professional. The publication time was record-breakingly short (81 days for the original article and 30 days for the review article). I haven’t come across anything like this before. This is definitely a huge plus. The minus is that I had to work on the corrections (in my case, there were many) quickly. If I didn’t have the necessary oligos on hand to set up additional experiments, fresh RNA, and one open resource center (lockdown!), I wouldn’t have had time. The deadlines are very short. I am grateful to the editors of the Journal of Developmental Biology for their accurate and prompt work. Thank you!

MDPI makes the publication process very user-friendly. Responses are very quick, and questions are answered in a very informative manner. The manuscript submission process is simple and not very time consuming. The manuscript template is very helpful. MDPI offers a wide scope of targeted journals to choose from, which covers a good spectrum of readers.

"I was looking for an open access journal with a scientific editorial board of high reputation. It was also attractive that JDB offered quick handling of the manuscript. First of all, it was fun writing the paper with the fully formatted template. The editorial process at JDB was an overall very good experience. From the first contact with the responsible editor who always answered without any delay to the final acceptance of the manuscript. I received the very detailed reports of the referees within short time. The rigorous and very fair comments helped much to improve the manuscript, to sharpen the main conclusions of our data and witnessed the high scientific quality of the referees.
