Mega-constellation network traffic forecasting provides key information for routing and resource allocation, which is of great significance to the performance of satellite networks. However, due to the self-similarity and long-range dependence (LRD) of mega-constellation network traffic, traditional linear/non-linear forecasting models cannot achieve sufficient forecasting accuracy. In order to resolve this problem, a mega-constellation network traffic forecasting model based on EMD (empirical mode decomposition)-ARIMA (autoregressive integrated moving average) and IGWO (improved grey wolf optimizer) optimized BPNN (back-propagation neural network) is proposed in this paper, which makes comprehensive utilization of linear model ARIMA, non-linear model BPNN and optimization algorithm IGWO. With the enhancement of the global optimization capability of a BPNN, the proposed hybrid model can fully realize the potential of mining linear and non-linear laws of mega-constellation network traffic, hence improving the forecasting accuracy. This paper utilizes an ON/OFF model to generate historical self-similar traffic to forecast. RMSE (root mean square error), MAE (mean absolute error), R-square and MAPE (mean absolute percentage error) are adopted as evaluation indexes for the forecasting effect. Comprehensive experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms traditional constellation network traffic forecasting schemes, with several improvements in forecasting accuracy and efficiency. The current satellite network traffic forecasting methods cannot fully exploit the long correlation between satellite traffic sequences, which leads to large network traffic forecasting errors and low forecasting accuracy. To solve these problems, we propose a satellite network traffic forecasting method with an improved gate recurrent unit (GRU). This method combines the attention mechanism with GRU neural network, fully mines the characteristics of self-similarity and long correlation among traffic data sequences, pays attention to the importance of traffic data and hidden state, learns the time-dependent characteristics of input sequences, and mines the interdependent characteristics of data sequences to improve the prediction accuracy. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is used to obtain the best network model Hyperparameter and improve the prediction efficiency. Simulation results show that the proposed method has the best fitting effect with real traffic data, and the errors are reduced by 26.9%, 37.2%, and 57.8% compared with the GRU, Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Fractional Autoregressive Integration Moving Average (FARIMA) models, respectively. Satellite navigation has become ubiquitous to plan and track travelling. Having access to a vehicle’s position enables the prediction of its destination. This opens the possibility to various benefits, such as early warnings of potential hazards, route diversions to pass traffic congestion, and optimizing fuel consumption for hybrid vehicles. Thus, reliably predicting destinations can bring benefits to the transportation industry. This paper investigates using deep learning methods for predicting a vehicle’s destination based on its journey history. With this aim, Dense Neural Networks (DNNs), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks, Bidirectional LSTM (BiLSTM), and networks with and without attention mechanisms are tested. Especially, LSTM and BiLSTM models with attention mechanism are commonly used for natural language processing and text-classification-related applications. On the other hand, this paper demonstrates the viability of these techniques in the automotive and associated industrial domain, aimed at generating industrial impact. The results of using satellite navigation data show that the BiLSTM with an attention mechanism exhibits better prediction performance destination, achieving an average accuracy of 96% against the test set (4% higher than the average accuracy of the standard BiLSTM) and consistently outperforming the other models by maintaining robustness and stability during forecasting. Random access is one of the most competitive multiple access schemes for future space-based Internet of Things (S-IoT) due to its support for massive connections and grant-free transmission, as well as its ease of implementation. However, firstly, existing random access schemes are highly sensitive to load: once the load exceeds a certain critical value, the throughput will drop sharply due to the increased probability of data collision. Moreover, due to variable satellite coverage and bursty traffic, the network load of S-IoT changes dynamically; therefore, when existing random access schemes are applied directly to the S-IoT environment, the actual throughput is far below the theoretical maximum. Accordingly, this paper proposes an intelligent load control-based random access scheme based on CRDSA++, which is an enhanced version of the contention resolution diversity slotted ALOHA (CRDSA) and extends the CRDSA concept to more than two replicas. The proposed scheme is dubbed load control-based three-replica contention resolution diversity slotted ALOHA (LC-CRDSA3). LC-CRDSA3 actively controls network load. When the load threatens to exceed the critical value, only certain nodes are allowed to send data, and the load is controlled to be near the critical value, thereby effectively improving the throughput. In order to accurately carry out load control, we innovatively propose a maximum likelihood estimation (MLE)-based load estimation algorithm, which estimates the load value of each received frame by making full use of the number of time slots in different states. On this basis, LC-CRDSA3 adopts computational intelligence-based time series forecasting technology to predict the load values of future frames using the historical load values. We evaluated the performance of LC-CRDSA3 through a series of simulation experiments and compared it with CRDSA++. Our experimental results demonstrate that in S-IoT contexts where the load changes dynamically, LC-CRDSA3 can obtain network throughput that is close to the theoretical maximum across a wide load range through accurate load control.
