As people spend more time indoors, the impact of the built environment on psychological health has attracted growing attention. Yet existing studies often have difficulty capturing decision-makers’ reference dependence and loss aversion under uncertainty. To bridge this gap, we propose an evaluation framework comprising three first-level criteria—Outdoor Environment, Physical Comfort (including thermal, lighting, and color environments), and Acoustic Comfort—and determine combined weights by integrating subjective analytic hierarchy process (AHP) judgments with objective entropy weighting based on triangular fuzzy numbers (TFNs). We further incorporate prospect–regret theory to represent loss aversion, expectation-based reference points, and counterfactual regret/rejoicing, and couple it with the VIKOR compromise ranking method, forming an integrated “TFN + Prospect–Regret + VIKOR” approach. The proposed method is applied to four retrofit alternatives for an open-plan office floor (approximately 1200 m2), each emphasizing outdoor environment, physical comfort, acoustic comfort, or no single priority. Experts assessed the schemes using fuzzy linguistic variables. The results show that lighting conditions, thermal comfort, color scheme, and internal noise control receive the highest comprehensive weights. Extensive sensitivity analyses across value/weighting functions and regret-aversion parameters indicate that the ranking of alternatives remains stable while exhibiting clearer separation. Comparative analyses further suggest that, although the overall ordering is consistent with baseline methods, the proposed model increases score dispersion and improves discriminative power. Overall, by explicitly accounting for decision-makers’ psychological behavior and information uncertainty, the framework enables robust and interpretable selection of retrofit schemes for existing office spaces. Against the backdrop of the energy revolution, global energy demands are rising. Solar–wind hybrid energy storage plants (SWHESPs) are undoubtedly a research hotspot in this field for enhancing energy efficiency. However, the primary challenge in constructing SWHESPs is site selection. This paper aims to comprehensively investigate the site selection process for SWHESPs and determine the optimal site scientifically and objectively by considering various aspects, including technology, society, environment, and economy. This study employs a literature review and the Delphi method to establish the site selection index system of SWHESPs. The triangular fuzzy number (TFN) is used in relative similarity as an objective weight, while the Decision-Making Test and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) is used as a subjective weight. The comprehensive weights are computed using the Lagrange optimization method. Additionally, the options are ranked and evaluated using Geographic Information System (GIS) and the VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) methods based on prospect theory. The study also performs comparative and sensitivity analyses to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed methods. Proper siting can optimize the efficiency of resource use, which not only helps achieve more efficient use of clean energy but also promotes local economic development and job creation. Full article

Pumped storage power stations (PSPSs, hereafter) have garnered significant attention due to their critical roles in peak regulation and frequency modulation, contributing to the advancement of global new energy and power systems. Site selection of power stations is the key to successful operation. In this paper, a new site selection index system and evaluation model covering hydrogeology, construction, social economy, and energy grid are proposed to meet the multi-energy complementary needs of new energy sources. The index system was constructed by the literature review and Delphi method, the subjective and objective weights were calculated by the G1 method and Gini weighting method, and the combined weights were obtained by modifying the G1 method based on the Gini coefficient. The VIKOR method was used to evaluate the pre-selected sites, determine the best scheme, and verify the stability of the results. The results of the case study show that the Centian station site in Guangdong Province is the most promising. This study provides decision support for the construction of pumped storage power plants and has important significance for the development of clean energy and new power systems. Full article

Hydrogen leakage and explosion accidents have obvious dangers, ambiguity of accident information, and urgency of decision-making time. These characteristics bring challenges to the optimization of emergency alternatives for such accidents. Effective emergency decision making is crucial to mitigating the consequences of accidents and minimizing losses and can provide a vital reference for emergency management in the field of hydrogen energy. An improved VIKOR emergency alternatives optimization method is proposed based on the combination of hesitant triangular fuzzy set (HTFS) and the cumulative prospect theory (CPT), termed the HTFS-CPT-VIKOR method. This method adopts the hesitant triangular fuzzy number to represent the decision information on the alternatives under the influence of multi-attributes, constructs alternatives evaluation indicators, and solves the indicator weights by using the deviation method. Based on CPT, positive and negative ideal points were used as reference points to construct the prospect matrix, which then utilized the VIKOR method to optimize the emergency alternatives for hydrogen leakage and explosion accidents. Taking an accident at a hydrogen refueling station as an example, the effectiveness and rationality of the HTFS-CPT-VIKOR method were verified by comparing with the existing three methods and conducting parameter sensitivity analysis. Research results show that the HTFS-CPT-VIKOR method effectively captures the limited psychological behavior characteristics of decision makers and enhances their ability to identify, filter, and judge ambiguous information, making the decision-making alternatives more in line with the actual environment, which provided strong support for the optimization of emergency alternatives for hydrogen leakage and explosion accidents. Environmental protection and sustainable development have become the consensus of all countries in the world. Enterprises must pay attention to the impact on the environment in their operations. Therefore, the selection of green suppliers has become a crucial issue for companies. Supplier selection is a dynamic and complex multi-attribute group decision-making process. The decision results have the tripartite characteristics of “accepted”, “rejected” and “pending further investigation”, and experts need to constantly negotiate in the decision-making process to achieve consensus. In view of the above characteristics, this study constructs a sequential group three-way decision making (TWDM) method to support green supplier selection. Firstly, we review the existing literature on the evaluation criteria and selection methods of green suppliers. In this process, we construct an evaluation attribution system including the following four aspects: product formation, service level, development capability, and green level. Secondly, combining with the sequential and group characteristics of decision making, we propose a multiple-attribute sequential group TWDM method based on a multi-level granularity structure. The weight of each decision maker is determined by his influence weight and interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy entropy weight. The attribute weight is determined by entropy weight and subjective weight. By using the VIsekriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) method improved by grey relation analysis (GRA), we calculate conditional probabilities. Since the cumulative prospect theory can reflect the risk attitude of decision makers, we apply it to calculate the decision thresholds. Finally, we apply a case of Q automobile manufacturer to verify the effectiveness, applicability and feasibility of the method. The innovation of this study is to construct social networks at each granularity level and introduce an expert information exchange model to promote group consensus. The sequential group TWDM method provides a new reference and idea for the selection of green suppliers. Full article

Energy security and ecological and environmental security are some of the most basic and important preconditions for national development, and ecological compensation is an important institutional guarantee for construction of China’s ecological civilization. The Chinese government has always made it clear that it will “step up efforts to protect the ecosystem” and establish market-based and diversified ecological compensation mechanisms. However, the existing system and mechanism design of ecological environment protection has been unable to meet the needs of economic and social development in the new era. On the basis of the psychological account theory and prospect theory, this paper constructed an evaluation system of strategic mineral resources exploitation and ecological environmental protection effects in Western China using the VIKOR-AISM model. In this paper, the VIKOR-AISM model comprehensively considers the maximization of group utility and minimization of individual regrets, and conducts a cluster analysis based on the compromise value Q and its inflection k. The comprehensive ranking changes of evaluation subjects under different decision preferences and hesitation interval measures were studied according to the antagonist hierarchy topology. The research results provide decision-making support for China to formulate ecological compensation policies in line with regional characteristics. Full article

In the context of Chinese innovation-driven strategy, the role of suppliers has been attracting much attention. Since not every supplier can contribute to the buyer’s innovation, scientifically selecting an innovative supplier is highly valued by decision-makers from the new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturers. This paper focuses on proposing a novel decision framework in the context of collaborative innovation, which helps NEV manufacturers to select an innovative supplier who can work hand in hand with them to enhance their innovation performance. First, a novel capability-willingness-risk (C-W-R) evaluation indicator system is established, considering supply risk from a multi-proximity perspective which is tightly tied to collaborative innovation performance, only considered from geographical proximity in previous supplier selection research. Then a hybrid fuzzy-symmetrical multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) model is proposed that integrates fuzzy linguistic sets, best–worst method (BWM), prospect theory (PT) and VIKOR. With this approach, a final ranking is obtained for innovative supplier selection by NEV manufacturers in China. Moreover, sensitivity analysis and comparison analysis illustrate the proposed decision framework’s effectiveness and reliability and dig deep into the buyer−supplier collaborative innovation. Finally, some managerial suggestions are given for supplier selection from the standpoint of NEV manufacturers. Full article

This paper aims toward the improvement of the limitations of traditional failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) and examines the crucial failure modes and components for railway train operation. In order to overcome the drawbacks of current FMEA, this paper proposes a novel risk prioritization method based on cumulative prospect theory and type-2 intuitionistic fuzzy VIKOR approach. Type-2 intuitionistic VIKOR handles the combination of the risk factors with their entropy weight. Triangular fuzzy number intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (TFNIFNs) applied as type-2 intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (Type-2 IFNs) are adopted to depict the uncertainty in the risk analysis. Then, cumulative prospect theory is employed to deal with the FMEA team member’s risk sensitiveness and decision-making psychological behavior. Finally, a numerical example of the railway train bogie system is selected to illustrate the application and feasibility of the proposed extended FMEA model in this paper, and a comparison study is also performed to validate the practicability and effectiveness of the novel FMEA model. On this basis, this study can provide guidance for the risk prioritization of railway trains and indicate a direction for further research of risk management of rail traffic. Full article

The traditional multi-attribute group decision making (MAGDM) method needs to be improved to the integration of assessment information under multi-granular probabilistic linguistic environments. Some novel distance measures between two multi-granular probabilistic linguistic term sets (PLTSs) are proposed, and distance measures are proved to be reasonable. To calculate the weights of the alternative attributes, the extended cross-entropy method for multi-granular probabilistic linguistic term sets is proposed. Then, a novel extended MAGDM algorithm based on prospect theory (PT) is proposed. Two case studies of decision making (DM) on purchasing a car is provided to illustrate the application of the extended MAGDM algorithm. The case analyses are proposed to illustrate the novelty, feasibility, and application of the proposed MAGDM algorithm by comparing the other three algorithms based on TOPSIS, VIKOR, and Pang Qi et al.’s method. The analyses results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm based on PT is superior. Full article

Hesitant fuzzy linguistic term set provides an effective tool to represent uncertain decision information. However, the semantics corresponding to the linguistic terms in it cannot accurately reflect the decision-makers’ subjective cognition. In general, different decision-makers’ sensitivities towards the semantics are different. Such sensitivities can be represented by the cumulative prospect theory value function. Inspired by this, we propose a linguistic scale function to transform the semantics corresponding to linguistic terms into the linguistic preference values. Furthermore, we propose the hesitant fuzzy linguistic preference utility set, based on which, the decision-makers can flexibly express their distinct semantics and obtain the decision results that are consistent with their cognition. For calculations and comparisons over the hesitant fuzzy linguistic preference utility sets, we introduce some distance measures and comparison laws. Afterwards, to apply the hesitant fuzzy linguistic preference utility sets in emergency management, we develop a method to obtain objective weights of attributes and then propose a hesitant fuzzy linguistic preference utility-TOPSIS method to select the best fire rescue plan. Finally, the validity of the proposed method is verified by some comparisons of the method with other two representative methods including the hesitant fuzzy linguistic-TOPSIS method and the hesitant fuzzy linguistic-VIKOR method.
