Microalgae are among the most efficient photosynthetic organisms on Earth, and their capacity for CO2 fixation directly links the global carbon cycle with green energy conversion, positioning them as strategic biological platforms for achieving carbon neutrality. This review provides a comprehensive and multiscale synthesis of the engineering and biological mechanisms underlying microalgal CO2 fixation, integrating perspectives from gas–liquid mass transfer, CO2 assimilation pathways, key enzymatic systems, metabolic regulation, and environmental control. From an engineering standpoint, we analyze the limitations governing CO2 transfer from the gas phase to the aqueous phase and critically evaluate intensification strategies aimed at enhancing inorganic carbon availability in cultivation systems. At the biological and biochemical levels, we dissect carbon concentrating mechanisms (CCMs), including C4-like pathways, and elucidate the structural organization, regulatory properties, and functional coordination of Rubisco and carbonic anhydrase systems. Particular emphasis is placed on the coupling between enzyme-level regulation and metabolic flux redistribution, supported by insights from metabolic flux analysis and systems-level modeling, to establish theoretical and engineering foundations for improving carboxylation efficiency. Finally, we propose an integrated roadmap for the future development of microalgal CO2 fixation technologies, highlighting the convergence of synthetic biology, artificial intelligence, and systems engineering to achieve end-to-end optimization from molecular mechanisms to reactor-scale performance, while enabling the valorization of waste gas streams and circular carbon utilization. This review aims to provide a coherent theoretical framework and forward looking perspective for the development of efficient, intelligent, and sustainable microalgal CO2 fixation systems. The global ecological decline resulting from urban development presents a significant challenge for numerous regions striving to reconcile conservation efforts with developmental needs. This study explores the relationship between ecosystem service value (ESV) and habitat quality (HQ) under various scenarios to elucidate prospective development trajectories. This study utilized the PLUS model to simulate land use patterns in the Chengdu metropolitan area across four distinct development scenarios. Furthermore, it employed the equivalent factor method and the Invest model to quantify ESV and HQ values, and investigated the coupling coordination between ESV and HQ for each city using a coupling coordination model (CCM). The findings are as follows: (1) Between 2000 and 2020, land use in the Chengdu metropolitan area primarily expanded through the development of construction land. (2) Concurrently, ESV demonstrated a fluctuating trend characterized by an initial decline succeeded by an upsurge, culminating under the Development–Ecological Balance Scenario. Likewise, HQ displayed a similar fluctuating pattern with an initial decline succeeded by an increase, reaching its zenith under the Ecological Dominance Scenario. (3) The coupling coordination between ESV and HQ exhibited variability across cities and scenarios. Ultimately, this study offers a distinctive perspective on evaluating the interplay between urban development and conservation, providing valuable insights for promoting sustainable development in other regions. The coordination relationship between land urbanization and population urbanization is crucial for achieving sustainable development under economic transition. Moreover, the balance between land urbanization and population urbanization is essential to guarantee the urbanization process of an entire city. This paper empirically analyzes the interaction between land urbanization and population urbanization in Nanchang from 2002 to 2017 based on the coupling coordination model (CCM). The impacts of the coordination degree on coordinated development are quantified by multivariate linear regression (MLR). The results show the following: (1) The indices of land urbanization and population urbanization in Nanchang showed an upward trend, and therefore the coordination degree in Nanchang increased significantly from 2002 to 2017. (2) The coordinated development of urbanization underwent two stages: disordered and moderately disordered. (3) The urban population proportion and the supporting capability of agricultural production had a positive impact on coordinated development. Meanwhile, the results also show that per capita education expenditures and the per capita public green area had negative impacts on the coordination degree, while economic development and the urban industrial structure were positive contributors to the coordination degree. Finally, this paper proposes that policies should be formulated to achieve coordinated development of urbanization. It can be concluded that the results regarding coordinated development of urbanization can help decision makers formulate effective measures to achieve coordinated development in the future.
