This paper introduces a novel fractional Ikeda-based memristor map and investigates its non-linear dynamics under commensurate and incommensurate orders using various numerical techniques, including Lyapunov exponent analysis, phase portraits, and bifurcation diagrams. The results reveal diverse and complex system behaviors arising from the interplay of different fractional orders in the proposed map. Furthermore, the study employs the sample entropy test to quantify complexity and validate the presence of chaos. Non-linear controllers are also presented to stabilize and synchronize the model. The research emphasizes the system’s sensitivity to the fractional order parameters, leading to distinct dynamic patterns and stability regimes. The memristor-based chaotic map exhibits rich and intricate behavior, making it an interesting and important area of research. Full article

This paper investigates how young Japanese women in contemporary Soka Gakkai (SG) navigate Japan’s continuous gender stratified society that remains culturally rooted in the ‘salaryman-housewife’ ideology. How are young SG members reproducing or contesting these hegemonic gender norms that few seek to emulate? While SG has long proclaimed that it stands for gender equality, its employment structure and organization in Japan until recently reflected the typical male breadwinner ideology that came to underpin the post-war Japanese nation-state and systemic gender division of labor. As shown here, this did not mean that SG women were without power; in fact, in many ways they drove organizational developments in the Japanese context. The recent imposition of the global framework for Sustainable Development Goals of 2015 has enabled SG to more substantially challenge its own patriarchal public front. Based on long-term fieldwork, in-depth interviews and multiple group discussions with SG members in their 20s, this article explores how SG-Japan is being challenged to follow its own discourse of ‘globalism’ and ‘Buddhist humanism’, promoted by Daisaku Ikeda since the 1990s. Using Bourdieu’s analysis of symbolic power, the research shows how Japan’s powerful doxa of ‘genderism’ that held sway over earlier generations is currently being challenged by a glocalized Buddhist discourse that identifies Nichiren Buddhism as ‘humanism’ rather than Japanese ‘genderism’. This article sets out to document and summarise the New Zealand epidemic and the epidemiological research conducted on the epizootic of bovine anaemia associated with Theileria orientalis Ikeda type infection, which began in New Zealand in August 2012. As New Zealand has no other pathogenic tick-borne cattle haemoparasites, the effects of the T. orientalis Ikeda type infection observed in affected herds and individual animals were not confounded by other concurrent haemoparasite infections, as was possibly the case in other countries. This has resulted in an unbiased perspective of a new disease. In addition, as both New Zealand’s beef and dairy cattle systems are seasonally based, this has led to a different epidemiological presentation than that reported by almost all other affected countries. Having verified the establishment of a new disease and identified the associated pathogen, the remaining key requirements of an epidemiological investigation, for a disease affecting production animals, are to describe how the disease spreads, describe the likely impacts of that disease at the individual and herd level and explore methods of disease control or mitigation. What if consumers are getting obese because eating less calories is more difficult for persons that have a higher pleasure and desire towards food (Ikeda et al., 2005) and food companies do not help given only a two extreme option choice to satisfy their needs (i.e., low calories vs. high calories or healthy vs. unhealthy)? Reward systems are being described with a new conceptual approach where liking—the pleasure derived from eating a given food—and wanting—motivational value, desire, or craving—can be seen as the significant forces guiding eating behavior. Our work shows that pleasure (liking), desire (wanting), and the interaction between them influence and are good predictors of food choice and food intake. Reward responses to food are closely linked to food choice, inducing to caloric overconsumption. Based on the responses given to a self-administered questionnaire measuring liking and wanting attitudes, we found three different segments named ‘Reward lovers,’ ‘Half epicurious,’ and ‘Non indulgents’. Their behavior when choosing food is quite different. Results show differential effects on caloric consumption depending on segments. The introduction of more food choices that try to balance their content is a win-win strategy for consumers, companies, and society. Full article

Time-delay chaotic systems can have hyperchaotic attractors with large numbers of positive Lyapunov exponents, and can generate highly stochastic and unpredictable time series with simple structures, which is very suitable as a secured chaotic source in chaotic secure communications. But time-delay chaotic systems are generally designed and implemented by using analog circuit design techniques. Analog implementations require a variety of electronic components and can be difficult and time consuming. At this stage, we can now solve this question by using FPAA (Field-Programmable Analog Array). FPAA is a programmable device for implementing multiple analog functions via dynamic reconfiguration. In this paper, we will introduce two FPAA-based design examples: An autonomous Ikeda system and a non-autonomous Duffing system, to show how a FPAA device is used to design programmable analog time-delay chaotic systems and analyze Shannon entropy and Lyapunov exponents of time series output by circuit and simulation systems.
