Best PhD Thesis Award

Dear Colleagues,

As the Editor-in-Chief of Fire, it is my great pleasure to announce the winner of the Fire 2021 Best Ph.D. Thesis Award.

The award has been granted to:

“Taking Fire: The Historical and Contemporary Politics of Indigenous Burning in Australia and the Western United States” by Dr Daniel May, Australian National University.

The winner will receive 800 CHF, a certificate, and a chance to publish a paper in Fire before the end of 2022.

On behalf of the assessment committee, I congratulate the winner on his accomplishments. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the research groups nominated for the award, the author of the exceptional thesis for his contributions to Fire, and the Award Committee for voting and helping with this award.
