Special Issue Information

Immunopathology is an ancillary technique that has evolved in the past 40 years and continues to rapidly evolve. This procedure allows diagnosticians to analyze cellular characteristics not seen on routinely stained sections. The scientific methods behind the process have remained largely unchanged, but techniques designed to enhance sensitivity and specificity are being developed and perfected continuously. In addition, immunologic markers available to pathologists are constantly discovered and becoming progressively more sophisticated. In modern dermatopathology, this diagnostic tool not only aids in solving the dilemma of differential diagnoses but also assists in the classification of various cutaneous entities. Testing for immunohistochemical expression of particular markers to determine treatment options and efficacy is already implemented in other pathology subspecialties and will potentially be used in dermatopathology as well. To successfully orchestrate the art of immunohistochemistry, one should be broadly familial with its advantages and pitfalls and be, in general, “on top of the game” when new markers become commercially available. In this Special Issue, we aim to update the reader on the most advantageous as well as new immunohistochemical markers available for dermatopathologists.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Dermatopathology is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
