Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Microalgae have gained significant attention due to their potential as a sustainable source of food, fuel, and other valuable compounds. To fully realize this potential, advanced technologies must be developed to optimize microalgae production and application. This Special Issue will focus on the latest advances in microalgae cultivation, harvesting, processing, and biorefinery, as well as the development of novel applications in various fields. The goal is to provide a platform for researchers and industry professionals to share their findings and promote the development of microalgae-based technologies.
This issue will focus on the development and implementation of novel technologies, including but not limited to photobioreactors and biorefinery processes, to improve the efficiency and scalability of microalgae-based industries.
The scope of this Special Issue will cover a broad range of topics, including strain selection and optimization, cultivation systems, downstream processing, and product development. We encourage submissions of original research articles, reviews, and perspectives that showcase innovative approaches to improve the production and application of microalgae.
The purpose of this Special Issue is to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of microalgae-based industries, highlight the most promising research and development efforts, and identify future directions for the field. By gathering the latest research findings, this special issue will serve as a valuable resource for researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers interested in the application of microalgae.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. AgriEngineering is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
