Dr. Paolo Bollella is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Bari Aldo Moro, Italy. With nearly a decade of research experience and a Ph.D. completed in December 2017, Dr. Bollella is a prominent figure in applied and interdisciplinary bioelectrochemistry. His pioneering work focuses on enzyme structures, action mechanisms, and biotechnological applications, specifically developing ultra-sensitive amperometric enzymatic biosensors. His research has led to a significant number of citations (H-index 28, Scopus) and has broad implications in bioelectrochemical sciences.
Since 2023, Dr. Bollella has been an advisory board member of DirectSens, an Austrian company specializing in enzymatic biosensors. His work aims to impact biomedical applications, particularly in diabetes diagnosis and continuous glucose monitoring, contributing to digital health advancements and potential cost reductions in healthcare.
Dr. Bollella has been recognized among the top 2% of influential scientists and engineers from 2019 to 2022, according to the researchers from Stanford University statistics. His accolades include the Minerva Prize for scientific research, the 2020 Sensors Travel Award, the 2022 Young Researcher Award from the Italian Chemical Society, and multiple early career awards in analytical electrochemistry and sensors.
