NDT Webinar | Multiscale Integration of Magnetic, Gravity, and GPR Data for Subsurface Imaging, 18 May 2026

Innovative methods for the multiscale analysis of magnetic and gravitational anomalies can improve integration with GPR or other geophysical data for the non-destructive detection and characterization of buried anthropogenic structures.

Advanced multiscale techniques, including multiridge analysis and depth from extreme points (DEXP), are employed to estimate the geometry and depth of subsurface sources. The approach also relies on wavelet-based multiresolution analysis to decompose geophysical signals and enhance the identification of local anomalies. The joint interpretation of complementary datasets enables discrimination between shallow and deep features, improving the reliability of subsurface models. Indeed, while GPR data analysis provides high-resolution information on near-surface discontinuities, potential field data are better suited for detecting deeper structures.

In this webinar, Prof. Dr. Maurizio Fedi will show through case studies that the integration of these methods proves effective in solving complex subsurface architectures, especially where individual techniques may be limited.
