Journal of Clinical Medicine | 2024 Editorial Board Meeting of the Section “Nephrology and Urology”

The Journal of Clinical Medicine (JCM, ISSN: 2077-0383) has held Editorial Board meetings since 2023. The Editorial Board meeting on 9 December 2024 for the Section “Nephrology and Urology” was hosted by Section Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Dr. Magdi Yaqoob, and eight Editorial Board Members were in attendance. We are extremely grateful for the strong support from our Editorial Board Members, and we sincerely hope that more Editorial Board Members will be able to participate in future meetings. We would like to invite everyone to review the content of this meeting.

The meeting began with a presentation about the development of the journal, with a particular focus on the Section “Nephrology and Urology”. The following topics were discussed:

The journal’s history, open access policy, and author benefits;
Journal publication statistics and analysis of authors’ demographics (2018–2024);
Journal awards, marketing activities, and social media promotion;
Section EBM overview, decision-making statistics, and Section development statistics.

To promote the development of the “Nephrology and Urology” Section, the following topics were discussed at this Editorial Board meeting:

Members provided valuable suggestions on the type of manuscripts handled by the Section. The focus was on handling more original manuscripts of high quality. In addition, it was suggested that manuscripts in the style of debate/controversy be included to increase topicality and attract more attention;
Members suggested creating additional columns such as the Student Column and Journal Clubs Column, which could increase the visibility and awareness of the Section in the academic community. Members suggested expanding the geographical distribution of the author groups, welcoming outstanding scholars from all over the world to join us, and supplementing the number of members. We warmly invite distinguished scholars to join us, as their expertise and influence will greatly contribute to the development of the Section;
Promotion plays a vital role in the development of the Section. Members suggested organizing webinars and establishing partnerships with large associations that have many members. Such partnerships are expected to increase the exposure of the Section and promote wider scholarly communication.

The latest official CiteScore (2023 Scopus data) for the Journal of Clinical Medicine is 5.7, ranking 80/636 (Q1) in the “General Medicine” category. The current Impact Factor of JCM is 3.0 (2023), ranking 59/329 (Q1) in the “Medicine, General, and Internal” category.
