In submitting conference proceedings to the 1st International Symposium on Research in Venomous Animals, Manaus, Brazil, 2–5 May 2023, the volume editors of the proceedings certify to the publisher that all abstracts published in this volume have been subjected to peer review, performed by a scientific committee administered by the volume editors. Reviews were conducted by expert referees to the professional and scientific standards expected of a proceedings journal.

  • Number of submissions sent for review: 32;
  • Number of submissions accepted: 29;
  • Acceptance rate (number of submissions accepted/number of submissions received): 90.6%;
  • Average number of reviews per paper: three;
  • Total number of reviewers involved: 32;
  • Description of the process of peer review and/or editorial oversight of all accepted content (e.g., detailed criteria or policy of peer-review, etc.):
    • Writing of the first version of the Abstract by the master’s/doctoral students, revised by respective supervisor;
    • Submission of the Abstract to the event scientific commission review board, and returning to the student for the necessary corrections;
    • After acceptance of the Abstract by the review board, either with or without modifications, the abstract-associated work was presented in an oral mode to the congress audience and subsequent meeting, with two tutors selected for each student. The tutors were invited by the event organizers, and are renowned researchers in the area of Toxinology. Suggestions and corrections from the audience and tutors were evaluated together with the advisors, and included to obtain the final version of the Abstract.
