Mechanomodulation: Physical Treatment Modalities Employ Mechanotransduction to Improve Scarring
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
A very interesting article focusing on identification of the basic mechanisms of scar formation using the mechano-transduction theories. it is also innovative to consider scar massage and taping to reduce the mechanical tension of the ECM, thus control the hypertrophic scars.
I look forward to seeing a clinical trial conducted to further substantiate the theories of scar management.

In this review, the authors report about the non-surgical treatment of scars. The authors describe in detail the impact of non-surgical treatment on cell and molecular processes. In summary, the authors state that the modulation in compression treatment in particular should be examined more closely in future studies.
- The manuscript was very detailed and well prepared. The most important aspects of conservative scar treatment have been worked out.
- The understanding of conservative therapy at the cellular and molecular level is limited and has not been adequately studied. It is also important to make it clear in the conclusion that intensive research must continue in this area in order to enable better therapy options for patients with scars in the future. The authors have described the limitations of the current understanding of the processes in scars very well. It would be advisable if they described new research approaches or research ideas here that could lead to better treatment of scars.
- Some assertions as in the introduction part (1st sentence) are not provided with references. Each statement must be backed up with a reference.
- Please check the manuscript again for spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.

Congratulations for the authors for the well written article
can the authors remove the like and dislike symbol in figure 2, as does not look professional?
Please discuss the role of silicone gel in the treatment of hypertrophic scar and keloid development?
Do the paper scar taping work well with all types of scars or has maximum benefit in the hypertrophic scars?
Figure 5 is shown in the article below, did the authors got copyright approval?

Do the authors consider cost effectines and complications of three treatment modalities mentioned in the artcile
