Abstract

We present a framework for the design optimization of domestic energy systems in diverse climatic conditions. Climatic data of two distinct geographical areas are sourced through RETScreen and converted into hourly weather profiles. Two identical households are considered, for which energy system designs are derived via rolling horizon optimization with the cost and environmental impact in mind. Results are derived for four characteristic days (one per season). The final energy system design per household is decided after a post-optimal analysis of the available solutions vis a vis their capacity to cover energy needs in the most efficient way.
