Dear authors,

I appreciated reading your paper but I need there are some parts that need to be improved. Namely, I believe the paper in its current format does not give out enough information about the methodology, the data analysis process and the ethical considerations concerning the study. Paragraph 2 is a bit confusing as it seems like you are already starting to report findings, while the focus should be on being clear about what you did and how you generated your database and findings.

Also, I noticed that most of the literature you cited is not research. Is there anything published in the past 2 years that you could cite so to have a more up-to-date literature review?

I have enjoyed reading this work. I found the classification into three types of intergenerational family relationships especially interesting, and I have learned about certain cultural aspects of the societies under study.

This a very good, original article, opening up important issues for the first time. There is too little research on the tensions that can arise in intergenerational cohabiting relationships and still less upon methods of alleviating them, or on the particular tensions that can arise from cross-national relationships. The case studies discussed here raise a series of important questions which should be followed up  by future research. The article is methodologically sound and clearly written.
