Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Comments to the Author:

The authors of this manuscript present interesting research on high-efficiency water-fertilizer control system using wireless sensor network for precision agriculture in cotton cultivation. Introduction and material and methods are well described. Also, results are presented in tables and are clear and quite explicable. Due to extend research in application of precision systems in agriculture the last few years I believe that is fair the authors to discuss and explain the findings of their work compering their work with other similar works in a well written discussion.  The text needs very few revisions. Although research studies on high-efficiency water-fertilizer control system using wireless sensor network for precision agriculture in different crop cultivation have been studied in the past the application in cotton cultivation could add further interest to the researchers worldwide. Finally, it is worthily to be mentioned that this work is related to a patent application.

Abstract

COMMENT:

The abstract describes well the purpose the scope and the fundings of this research work

Introduction

Introduction section is well written and, in my opinion, give the appropriate information. However, according to my opinion the text within lines 46-85 could be mentioned in the discussion section.

Line 95    In my opinion I would suggest another title and not the title related work. You could also delete the title and include the subsections in the introduction section.

Section 2.2 could be included within section 3.

Experimental setup and results

Line 227      m2

Line 227     “The field experiment was carried out in a plot of 30×22” …Is the experiment repeated or it is conducted only once?

I understand that this research work is related to Mechanical and Electrical Engineering science. However, in my opinion I would find more useful if you mention also findings of the soil analysis before and after fertilize application.

Results

Figures and diagrams are well presented. There are no error bars in figure 9.

Discussion

There is no discussion section. As it was mentioned before some lines from introduction section could be used as discussion in order to compare your findings with other similar research work.

Conclusions

The conclusion section is too long. Please focus only on the findings of your research work. Some parts of this section could be used in results section. According to my opinion is not useful to use words like ‘fisrt’, ‘second’ etc….’we should’ (you can use it is recommended etc.).
