Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Dear authors,

read the "The Safety Climate and Patient Safety Activities in Mental Health Nurses: The Mediating Effect of Safety Control" paper.

Below are some comments that will improve the work.

It may be an error in my file, but the document has countless typos. Also, some lines are written with a smaller font size, e.g., 48-62, and others are entirely bold: 370-382. Image 2 is also of poor quality and completely distorted.

The introduction section is exciting, although some statements are generic and redundant, for example, lines 26-29. appreciated the digression about the possibilities of falling in the hospital environments described. However, in any case, I believe that although the authors address the topic of errors in healthcare (lines 41-45), they do not address the topic of Clinical Risk Management in the management of falls in the healthcare environment and the role of the nurses in the management of this aspect (please see a recent article at the following DOI: https://doi.org/10.1177/25160435241246344).

The paragraph from line 48 to line 62 slows down the linearity and fluidity of the speech and is redundant with the lines included from line 65 to line 67. Please consider the modulation of this paragraph.

The final part of the introduction, ranging from line 83 to line 93, could be more precise. Please clearly indicate the gap you intend to fill and the study's objectives.

The materials and methods section does not indicate how the questionnaire was administered, which raises doubts about selection bias. Regarding statistics, indicate the statistician who evaluated and approved the tests.

The tables need to be self-sufficient in description and notes. Furthermore, with particular reference to Table 1, the results are misreported. Please use the consensus decimals in the mean-SD section. If two decimals describe the mean, two decimals must describe the standard deviation.

The discussion is fascinating, although there need to be more citations, e.g., lines 242-245 and 290-296. The conclusions could be more effective. Please summarize the key concepts you want to include in the conclusions section.

Finally, although I recommend integrating the limitations paragraph in the discussion section or, in any case, before the conclusions, the initial part of the paragraph is out of place (lines 371-375). please reevaluate these aspects.

Dear Reviewer,

Comments: I read the "The Safety Climate and Patient Safety Activities in Mental Health Nurses: The Mediating Effect of Safety Control" paper.

Response: We checked the file and corrected it. We revised image of figure 2.

Comments: The introduction section is exciting, although some statements are generic and redundant, for example, lines 26-29. I appreciated the digression about the possibilities of falling in the hospital environments described.

Response: We referred the paper and added to the follows.

Clinical risk management in the context of falls in healthcare environments involves identifying, assessing, and mitigating the risks associated with patient falls to improve patient safety and reduce the incidence and severity of falls-related injuries. The influential factors on patient safety activities need to be considered to find a way to improve the patient safety activities of nurses working at mental hospitals[8].

Comments: The paragraph from line 48 to line 62 slows down the linearity and fluidity of the speech and is redundant with the lines included from line 65 to line 67. Please consider the modulation of this paragraph.

Response: We checked and revised.

Comments: The final part of the introduction, ranging from line 83 to line 93, could be more precise. Please clearly indicate the gap you intend to fill and the study's objectives.

Response: We checked and revised to the follows.

It was considered that nurses' patient safety activities are important for patient safety, and that safety climate and safety control are related to patient safety activities. However, in many studies, most of the studies are on the influencing factors of each variable on patient safety activities, and there is a lack of research confirming the mediating effect of safety sense of control. The current study aimed to contribute to the broader discourse on healthcare safety and inform strategies for improving patient outcomes in the complex and critical field of mental healthcare by exploring the association between safety control, safety climate, and verified the mediating effects of safety control in the impact of safety climate on patient safety nursing activities of mental health nurses.

Comments: The materials and methods section does not indicate how the questionnaire was administered, which raises doubts about selection bias. Regarding statistics, indicate the statistician who evaluated and approved the tests.

Response: Thank you for your opinion.

We added the follows to study population section.

The researcher organized and analyzed the data without attempting to track down or identify the participants. The consent form and survey data will be kept for 3 years before being destroyed. Furthermore, the coded data will be retained for at least 5 years before being deleted

We added the follows to Data analysis section.

To ensure the accuracy and reliability of the statistical analysis, the tests were evaluated and approved by a professional statisticianIn addition, in relation to statistics, I was consulted by Dr Kim, who taught nursing statistics at U University nursing department in G city for more than 10 years.

Comments: The tables need to be self-sufficient in description and notes. Furthermore, with particular reference to Table 1, the results are misreported. Please use the consensus decimals in the mean-SD section. If two decimals describe the mean, two decimals must describe the standard deviation.

Response: We checked table 1 and revised.

Comments: The discussion is fascinating, although there need to be more citations, e.g., lines 242-245 and 290-296. The conclusions could be more effective. Please summarize the key concepts you want to include in the conclusions section.

Comments: Finally, although I recommend integrating the limitations paragraph in the discussion section or, in any case, before the conclusions, the initial part of the paragraph is out of place (lines 371-375). please reevaluate these aspects.

Response: We replaced the limitations before the conclusions.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Dear authors,

I have reviewed the revised paper and I am pleased to say that I found it greatly improved. However, I believe that the figures and tables do not properly describe the content; please provide them. Additionally, please ensure that all the citations in the list of references are properly quoted in the text.

Thank you.

This is an interesting paper, but the authors would be well advised to exploit their available data further.  My detailed comments are included in the attached report

A major language review is needed, because there are many mistakes: space missing between words, incorrect sentence structure, misplaced apostrophes, etc.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Title of the article: The Effects of Safety Control and Safety Climate of Mental Health Nurses on Patient Safety Activities

I would like to thank you for the opportunity to review such an interesting article, which aims to investigate the association between safety control, safety climate, and the degree of patient safety management activities for mental health nurses and determine the factors that affect patient safety management. The issues raised are important not only theoretically, but also in application.

The content of the paper is very carefully prepared from the substantive point of view. Nevertheless, there are some elements that need to be supplemented or corrected.

First, the described theoretical introduction succinctly leads the reader into the presented research model. The phenomenon of safety control (Safety control) needs clarification. It is not clear what the authors mean by safety control, terming it a cognitive ability and self-control, while they see the genesis of its creation in safety consciousness (safety consciousness) and the concept of safety (the concept of safety).

Secondly, bearing in mind that the article is theoretical and empirical in nature and that it presents the results of own research, it would be legitimate to formulate research hypotheses and include them in the Introduction. Supplementing the article with the research hypotheses will require the Authors to clearly refer to them when describing the research results as well as in the Conclusions.

Third - it is advisable to describe more precisely the tools used to measure the variables analyzed, with an indication of how the authors of the tools define safety control (safety control) and safety climate (safety climate).

From the methodological point of view, the work does not raise any major reservations. The statistical methods used in the article are well described, adequately selected, modern and non-trivial. The inference is correct and based on the methods described in the previous paragraphs. The description of the results is clear and understandable.

After implementing all necessary corrections, the article may be published.
