Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The author needs to incorporate the following suggestions/comments in their manuscript.

1. Page 2 Lines 46-47, rewrite for better clarity.

2. The research gap followed by the objective should be elaborated more.

3. The supplier name, equipment models, and make must be added in appropriate places.

4. The author can write the formula for wear rate calculation in this manuscript also.

5. The heading should be Results and Discussion.

6. In Fig 3, Fig 4, and Fig 9 mark the observations in SEM Images

7. The author should add about the friction test also without how the author has calculated the wear rate.

8. Apart from XRD, the author can also produce the EDS surface mapping to show the oxide layer formation. If possible add to the manuscript.

Author Response

Thank you for your letter and the reviewers’ further comments concerning our manuscript. We believe those comments are all valuable and very helpful for revising and improving our paper, as well as the important guiding significance to our researches. We have studied the comments carefully and the responses are given point-to-point shown as below.

Reviewer 2 Report

The main remarks are as follows:

Abstract: The abstract is prepared properly and captures main aspects, e.g. aim and results of the research. Keywords are selected properly and include main aspects of the paper.

Introduction:

Line 26: “In addition, 26 HEAs have excellent properties, including high strength, high hardness[4,5], wear resistance[6], corrosion resistance[7], and high-temperature oxidation resistance [8], compared with traditional metal materials.” – examples of such values are needed in order to show better properties in comparison to traditional metals

Line 32: “Mn is often…” – I suggest to avoid abbreviations instead of the whole name of compounds

Line 33: “Some researchers have used several cost-effective elements, such as Fe, Cr, Mn, Al, and Cu, as the main constituents of HEAs to fabricate FeCrMnAlCu-based HEAs…” – examples of such research are needed here

Line 40: “As the Fe content increased, the strength and hardness properties and plasticity of the alloys gradually decreased…” – how much decreased?

Line 42 – the last paragraph of the introduction: More information about the content of the paper is essential. Give some sentences about results and planned research for the future.

In 2.1. paragraph the purity is not less than 99.9%, but in 2.2. paragraph is above 99.95%. Please clarify it.

Line 78: “…which were mechanically mixed for 4 h…” – give rpm, please

In 2.3. paragraph give the model of equipment applied and the company and county.

Results: The results are written thoroughly but the reference to the literature is needed in this part.

Conclusions: The conclusions are written properly and capture the main findings of the research presented in the paper.

References: The references are selected properly but the amount should be higher for scientific papers.
