Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This is a very meaningful, comprehensive contribution to the matter dealt with in this paper. I would only suggest:

1. Some additional references to the major historical events mentioned in the paper. Some suggestions are made in the .pdf document.

2. Some key references to studies of the artworks contextualized in the paper.

3. Consistent identification of artwork illustrations in the paper with all of their elements (e.g., in some illustrations the date and material/medium of the artwork is missing).

The corrections made by the referees are absolutely reasonable, it's just not clear how the colors are arranged within the article. Should the part in red be deleted or reworked? And the part in blue is the one that should be left within the note. This is simply not clear.
