Your work shows a different side of the trend of the successful healing stories of pilgrimage. It seems to me that you actively work not to be spiritually engaged in pilgrimage. For me, you do not have to defend your atheism. I would rather see the position of a convinced atheist who has no doubts and who has not to defend this position. By continuously struggling with this position vis-a-vis religion or spirituality, research bias is slipping in.

 

One small language thing, line 374...'almost years'. You may wish to revise this. For the rest, your command of the english language is commendable. You are able to bring about clearly what you have to say. It is good to hear a contrary voice, but I guess you need some more theoretical back up, otherwise it seems that you are venting a lot of frustrations. I know that that is poart of an auto-ethnographical approach, but still, the reader must trust you know the value of balanced opinions.
