Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The author has done a good job with the revision and my previous concerns are all addressed properly.

Author Response

Thanks for the previous questions and the approval of the revision.

Reviewer 2 Report

Author should inform reader in the Abstract the province in which Longchang Monastery is located.

reparation is the incorrect word.  The word is restoration, or repair.

Baohua shanzhi in not a mountain gazetteer.  The correct translationis "Gazetteerof Baohua Mountain."

l. 153 The rebellion is the Taiping Revolt (not Tianping).

It is amazing that no one has studied this monastery since Prip-Moller.

The translation of the Inscription of the Ordination Platform is extremely important.

Endnote 46: Liang Sicheng is no longer the most accepted periodization of Chinese architecture.  The five-volume 中国古代建筑史, for example, offers a newer periodization.

Author Response

Province is included in the abstract.

All the wrong wording and typos have been fixed.

Endnote 16 includes newer peoriodization and perspectives.

Thank you for pointing out the wrong use of "reparation"--a key concept in this and other writings of mine.

I'm also surprised by the fact that the monastery has been so little studied from architectural or anthropological perspectives since Prip-Moller. Among the factors perhaps there are the failure of the contemorary expansion and the change of monastic life.

Reviewer 3 Report

There are a few grammatical mistakes.  Please see the attachment. The author should use spell-check for any additional minor details not caught by this reviewer.
