Hormones and Vestibular Disorders: The Quest for Biomarkers
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The authors had made a nice perpective paper about (hormonal) biomarkers and vestibular system, with a really nice bibliographic background but also with a clear languaje.
I really enjoy reviewing this text.

Reviewer 2 Report
This is a well written manuscript aimed to review evidences about the hormonal alterations linked to vestibular disorders, the means of monitoring them, and the prospects in terms of therapeutic innovation in the diagnosis and therapeutic follow-up of vestibular pathologies. I have only a few minor comments that can help the Journal's readers better understand the topic and the importance of this review.
- Firstly please describe the rationale for the review in the context of existing knowledge.
- Provide an explicit statement of the objective(s) or question(s) the review addresses
- List and define all outcomes for which data were sought. Specify whether all results that were compatible with each outcome domain in each study were sought (e.g. for all measures, time points, analyses), and if not, the methods used to decide which results to collect.
- Please provide the PRISMA checklist.
Author Response
We thanks the reviewer for its comments and suggestions.
Answer to points 1-3: As suggested by the reviewer, to help the Journal's readers better understand the topic and the importance of this review, we modified the last sentence of the Abstract to provide rationale for the review, explicit statement of the questions the review addresses and define the outcomes for which the bibliographic data were sought. We also mentioned how bibliographic data were sought.
Answer to points 4: This review was aimed at providing evidences that hormonal variations may be considered as suitable biomarkers of the different types stages of vestibular pathologies. Therefore it was built as a mix of bibliographic review and perspective paper, that be believe does not fit well with the stereotypical PRISMA organization (Introduction, Methods, Results…) of the paper. Therefore we opted for an organization as a classical review paper that we believe simplifies the reading and understanding by the reader.
