This paper is a very good piece of research based on the author's use of the QUALIPREV scheme developed by Rummens et al 2016. The author applies this scheme to research into restorative justice programs in a UK women's prison. The size of the program was relatively small, and could not be used for definitive analysis. However, the paper does provide an interesting discussion of the restorative justice program and evaluates its strengths and weaknesses. This makes it an interesting and original piece of research, and as such it is worth publishing. Its value is enhanced in a collection such as the Laws restorative justice special issue, which allows for an overview of new research in the field. Therefore, I would argue the piece should be published within this collection. It could require some rewriting of sentence structure and syntax by the author, to strengthen the presentation and to allow for a better overall discussion of the research.

Thank you very much for your review, we appreciate the feedback. We have made some changes to the paper that hopefully address the issues you identify. This includes:

  • Making it clear this is this an exploratory study that identifies interesting and important aspects of such schemes, but is not a generalisable analysis.
  • We have proof read the paper again for sentence structure, syntax, and clarity.
