Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

water-2228638-v1

The authors present a numerical study of power-law fluid flow in centrifugal pumps. There are language errors to be corrected and a few technical deficiencies to be addressed. The authors should also improve the narrative and clarity of the text. Some suggestions are listed below:

01. Lines 8-24: Correct language errors and improve the narrative and clarity of the Abstract.

02. L28-88: Correct language errors and improve the narrative and clarity of the Introduction.

03. L55-56: When citing previous works, do not use the initials of the authors, e.g. write “Mrinal et al. [17]” instead of “Mrinal K.R et al[17]”. Do similarly for all other citations.

04. L90-136: Correct language errors and improve the narrative and clarity of Section 2.

05. L118-119: Table 1 could be omitted by placing the fluid characteristics in the text.

06. L138-205: Correct language errors and improve the narrative and clarity of Section 3.

07. L165: Better to use as heading “3.2. Grid independence tests and model validation”.

08. L208: Write “performance” instead of “performence”.

09. L211-226: Correct language errors and improve the narrative and clarity of section 4.1

10. L231-325: Correct language errors and improve the narrative and clarity of section 4.2

11. L329-370: Correct language errors and improve the narrative and clarity of section 4.3

12. L378-407: Correct language errors and improve the narrative and clarity of the Conclusions.

13. Improve the clarity and the captions of the figures.

14. L415-462: List references correctly, complete, consistently and according to the Journal standards.

Reviewer 2 Report

The paper simulates the power-law fluid flow in a centrifugal pump and uses the water flow as a comparison. The results are meaningful and interesting, it can provide a reference for improving the design of centrifugal pumps using non-Newtonian fluids as media. However, the present version needs to be further revised before it is published in the journal.

Some suggestions are given for revising the paper:

(1) Some of the variables in the paper need to be italicized.

(2) The authors should add more application articles of flow characteristics and performance for centrifugal pump. For example, the following papers you can mention in introduction:

https://doi.org/10.22190/FUME210528065Z

https://doi.org/10.1115/1.4024865

(3) The resolution of some figures needs to be improved for better presentation.

(4) It is recommended to add more calculations for different viscosities to better show the difference between Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids.
