Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This is a very interesting review, well written, and derives significant clinical interest. The figures summarize the ideas nicely and allow the reader excellent "take home" messages. Background pioneering work is combined with contemporary areas of research, and are intermixed with clinical translation. Work of the authors is interwoven nicely with that of others in the field. A pleasure to read.

Reviewer 2 Report

This manuscript gives a comprehensive review on circadian phenomena in protein synthesis and growth in the heart. Evidence for why cardiac protein synthesis and growth peak at the awake-to-sleep transition are documented. It was proposed that the cardiomyocyte circadian clock regulates time-of-day-dependent rhythms in cardiac growth through both intrinsic and extrinsic timekeeping mechanisms. In addition, the authors provided opinion on the potential translational implications of circadian governance of cardiac growth. This manuscript is well-organized and clearly written and I recommend it to be accepted.
