Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In this manuscript triclosan addiction and electret treatment of PP filters were conducted to study the antibacterial performance of the filter. The following issues should addressed before being accepted for publication.

  1. the morphology at different amount of tricolsan additives should be given ;
  2. A part from crystallinity analysis, deep understanding should be given to explain the antibacterial effects of low molecular tricolsan inclusion.

Author Response

In this manuscript triclosan addiction and electret treatment of PP filters were conducted to study the antibacterial performance of the filter. The following issues should addressed before being accepted for publication.

  1. the morphology at different amount of tricolsan additives should be given ;

Answer: Thank you for your suggestion. SEM images in Figure 7 have now been appended to the text in order to demonstrate the fiber morphology.

  1. A part from crystallinity analysis, deep understanding should be given to explain the antibacterial effects of low molecular tricolsan inclusion.

Answer: Thank you for your comment. Primarily in our submission, crystallinity was discussed based on the surface voltage and surface potential, and now we have explored more literatures and found the relationship between the triclosan release rate and the crystallinity. Therefore, more discussion has now been incorporated with the discussion regarding inhibition zone as suggested.

Reviewer 2 Report

1Please explain more clearly why triclosan is used in the introduction stage.  Because of citing a lot of other materials, the sudden mention of triclosan is a little bit abrupt.

2Sodium chloride is mentioned in the material section, but it is not mentioned later in the essey. Please mention its function and explain it concisely.

3Please show the picture in Figure 2 clearly for easier viewing.

4Please make the labeling of the picture of Figure34clearer. Although there are text labels, the picture is not clear at a glance.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

  • Please explain more clearly why triclosan is used in the introduction stage.  Because of citing a lot of other materials, the sudden mention of triclosan is a little bit abrupt.

Answer: Thank you for your comment. The reason that triclosan is utilized in this study has now been added to the introduction.

  • Sodium chloride is mentioned in the material section, but it is not mentioned later in the essey. Please mention its function and explain it concisely.

Answer: Thank you for your comment. NaCl is used to serve as the particles for the filtration measurement, the statement of which has now been supplemented to the text.

  • Please show the picture in Figure 2 clearly for easier viewing.

Answer: Thank you for your comment. For clarity, Figure 2 has now been modified accordingly.

  • Please make the labeling of the picture of Figure3、 Although there are text labels, the picture is not clear at a glance.

Answer: Thank you for your comment. The quality of Figures 3 and 4 has now been improved.
