Title: To be a Brazilian city dweller sometimes, we must learn to say enough!
Commentary is a scholarly article, which expresses a personal opinion or a new perspective about existing research problem. Despite the fact that it does not require original research, author needs to have in-depth knowledge of the topic. The text presents problems of the urban environment in Brasilian cities. That issue is of great importance, as cities in Brazil contain more than 80% of the country`s population. The article illustrates the main issues seen from the perspective of the residents of such urban agglomerations. In fact it is crucial for them to understand the importance of ecosystem services in such places, in order to break some attitudes, resulting in bizarre idiosyncrasies associated with human-nature connections. The reviewed manuscript presents the problem in a very interesting way, it is 7-pages long, with 39 references to literature, which is completely adequate for this type of paper, as commentaries are rather short texts.
Author Response
Thank you for your comments and encouragement. We really expect that this opinion paper can contribute as reflexing point for society and to solve some of these bizarre idiosyncrasies.

The paper under revision is of very high quality. There are some comments in the attached file, that can be expanded to make the paper of a global world significance.
The aim should be expressed more clearly.
In the whole paper, only introduction is indicated. The subsequent parts have become titles.

Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
It is an important article that can generate impact on ecological awareness and environmental education of society in general, it is recommended to document the scientific names in italics for example in line 56 capybara; Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris.
Reviewer 2 Report
The topic of the paper „To be a Brazilian city dweller sometimes, we must learn to say enough!” is novelty and very interesting.
The authors show that in several Brazilian localities, it can be detected a local scale problem regarding an absence of citizen compromising associated with a greater engagement in public policies that could reflect, in the end, a better understanding of the importance of ecosystem services for their lives. Most Brazilian cities exhibit agendas of biodiversity targets and sustainable development goals through their cities’ master plans, even though most small and medium-sized ones exhibit a low capacity to put them into practice of these.
The introduction provides sufficient background and includes relevant references.
The manuscript is well written, and the text is easy to read.
The reference list is relatively recently.
Reviewer 3 Report
The article addresses in a very general way the difficulties of connecting macro government policies related to the environmental aspects of cities, mainly in Latin America, and the particularities related to social demands at more local scales of governance initiatives. The end of the article shows that academic researchers and government agencies can make an important contribution to solving the problems mentioned. However, the article generally points out known problems and does not make a significant contribution to the advancement of the current knowledge related to the topic. My suggestion is that the authors approach the subject seeking a more specific niche and make a deeper analysis that contributes significantly to the knowledge of the subject.
