Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript aims at the analysis of land morphology through an empirical case study on a specific area, i.e. Altay region.

The manuscript is well organised and argumented, the very author(s) say(s) that the methodology is incomplete and I suppose it qualifies itself as a preliminary study.

According to me, every section of the manuscript is well organised and does not need any further improvement, it is well readable and understandable in every part. I think it can be acceptable for publication in present form .

Reviewer 2 Report

European and Russian landscape mapping and typology is missing (Bristish, Dutch, germa, Czech, Slovak, Polish, Georgian, Ukrainian). There are many examples of applications of landscape feature data, GIS and RS techniques.

Geology as a one of key landscape features was not applied in the procedure. Mountain and soil terminology requires English corrections.

Individual remarks wre inserted directly into the text of the paper.

Round 2

Reviewer 2 Report

  1. The "needleleaf forest" is wrong - the right term is the "coniferous forest", it must be corrected everywhere in the paper.
  2. Citations of European landscape literature sources are not sufficient.
  3. Relations between the terms "land type" and "landscape type" must clearly explained.
