Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

It is a paper that studies the possibility of immune increase by natural products in the COVID-19 era and is considered a necessary study.

In this manuscript, the authors suggested that Extracts extracted from leaves of Rubia hexaphylla, Cymbopogon Citratus, and Dioscorea japonica increased the immunity. According to the data presented, their claim seems to be sound. The data brought by this article are valuable because of the relative paucity of information available on that topic. Therefore, it is considered that there are sufficient reasons for this paper to be published in the Sustainability journal.

Reviewer 2 Report

1) Experimental Methods paragraph 2.1 is unclear, with different mistakes, and should be completely re-writen :

  • line 66 : super-critical : I assume it is sub-critical
  • line 82-84 : paste of line 79-80 (mistake)
  • Indicate precisely temperature, pressure, nature and solvent ratio and yield for each extract

2) Chemical composition of the different extracts should be investigated, extraction method and raw material are not enough to characterize the products. At least, major constituants or specific markers should be identified and quantified.

3) The different activities of the 3 extracts should be compared according to their chemical composition, to have a better understanding of the activity difference and mechanism of action.
