Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Strengths:

- Very interesting overall topic

- The study include a balanced, comprehensive and critical view of the research area.

- The Research Questions are clearly described

- It is clear from Abstract in how far the research hypotheses are supported.

- Good Method section.

- Nice description why this is a relevant topic and what the theory behind the research questions is.

Limitations:

- Discussion chapter.

- Self-citations by authors

In my opinion, the study is very interesting and worth being published. In fact, the article is well-structured, the method used is congruent with the purpose of the study and the results are presented clearly.  Nevertheless, the Discussion and Conclusion sections are not sufficiently developed to exhibit the value of the research undertaken by the authors. For this reason, I feel I can give the following suggestions:

- First of all, I suggest to include one short paragraph summarizing the purpose of the study and the main findings obtained.

- Second, I think that the whole discussion needs to be re-structured to include: theoretical implications of the study, practical implications, limitations and future studies and a brief conclusion.

Finally, I detect inappropriate self-citations by authors.

I think the authors can easily follow the suggestions I have given in this review and make a new version of their interesting paper.

All best wishes.

Reviewer 2 Report

I greatly enjoyed reading this manuscript on the relationship between time-perspective of shipyard workers in relation to burnout compared to blue-collar workers. Overall, I found the manuscript to be well-written, thoroughly developed, and the analyses to be appropriately conducted and interpreted. I congratulate the authors to an important contribution to the literature. I only have a few minor points related to the methods that need to be addressed prior to publication.

  1. The authors conduct multiple separate t-tests. In light of the hyotheses, this leads to an alpha error accumulation. The p values need to be corrected for this accordingly in order to be sensibly interpreted. Alternatively, a multivariate analysis (e.g., MANOVA) could be used.
  2. Information about missing data and how this was dealt with is missing.
  3. Please include a full correlation matrix and descriptive statistics for all variables included in this study. Else the results cannot be thoroughly understood.
