Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The paper discussed use of EPD system for design of new building materials: the case study of a bio-based thermal insulation panel from the pineapple industry by product.

The paper does not include mechanical or other thermal characteristics. It should be specified if the material has the characteristics. The paper should be supported on the characteristics of the new material and the advantages of possible improvements

For a scientific paper, report only the characteristics of a single element.

So the paper from this point of view does not have the standards to be accepted in the journal.

Dear Editor,

Dear Authors,

This manuscript presents a methodology in order to study in detail the impact of a bio-based material in building industry. The results are compared with other commercial materials.

The manuscript fits very well with the scope of the journal. The overall presentation of the paper is very good.

I suggest only two minor comments:

1. Please, include the major outcomes of the study into the abstract, using specific numbers.

2. The results' section is very short. You should describe in detail the main results. Please, describe in detail each category and their main results. Also, you may combine the "results and discussion section".

Reviewer 3 Report

In insulating materials used in residential buildings, apart from thermo-physical parameters, acoustic insulation is also important. The article does not deal with this issue. Was this parameter also tested? If so, then one should refer at least in the conclusions to this issue.

more ideas for the introduction and making refrences with further authors and improving the quality could take cues from the following papers:
