Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

As the title suggests, the present work aims to assess the operation and maintenance of offshore wind farms. Even though the manuscript is well written and contains a sufficient number of references for a survey, some aspects remain uncovered in the analysis.

The authors highlight that the power converter is the main element of the wind system at several points in the manuscript. In turn, little attention is given to the discussion of failure diagnosis applied in power electronics systems in the context of wind power systems, especially offshore ones. Please, elaborate.

Another important question that remains uncovered is the fact that the type of generator associated with the wind turbine will influence the maintenance and inspection planning of wind energy assets significantly. Several studies have also focused on condition-based and time-based maintenance are not mentioned anywhere. The authors must improve the discussion at this point.

As a last request, it would be useful to propose a taxonomy for classifying the strategies in terms of a schematic diagram.

Non-technical issues include the fact that the authors must replace all figures with high-quality vector graphics which do not get distorted when zooming in.

Reviewer 2 Report

This work provides a comprehensive overview of the operation and maintenance of offshore wind power systems. This work is indeed valuable and insightful. However, I have a few suggestions that I believe could enhance the clarity and depth of this manuscript:

1) With regard to sea wind and waves being utilized for optimizing methods and strategies, could you perhaps provide a succinct overview or summary of the explicit methodologies employed for this process? It would be extremely beneficial for the readers to understand how this critical information is systematically utilized.

2) Considering the main components of offshore wind turbines, it seems that there is a growing interest in the techniques of Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (VAWT) compared to Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines (HAWT). Could there be any specific requirements or distinguishing factors that could be addressed? In this context, I'd recommend considering the paper titled "Gharaati, M., Xiao, S., Wei, N. J., Martínez-Tossas, L. A., Dabiri, J. O., & Yang, D. (2022). Large-eddy simulation of helical-and straight-bladed vertical-axis wind turbines in boundary layer turbulence. Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy, 14(5)" as it could potentially add a dimension of depth to your discussion.

3) Lastly, concerning the presentation of figures and tables, I would like to suggest a consistent use of color. While most of your figures are presented in color, the tables appear to alternate between color and non-color. Ensuring consistency in this area would not only augment the aesthetic value of your work but also aid in a smoother reading experience.

Once again, I appreciate the opportunity to review this work and I hope my suggestions contribute to the enhancement of this valuable research.
