Professors Jeroen Bax and Petros Nihoyannopoulos wish to invite you to participate in the 19th International Congress on Advances in Cardiac Ultrasound that takes place in the exciting city of Davos-Switzerland 26th February to 1st March 2018.
This is probably the oldest international meeting on echocardiography in Europe. It runs every other year and concentrates on the most recent advances in cardiac ultrasound and their relevance for clinical problem solving in everyday clinical practice. It is endorsed by the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging, one of the five Associations of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC).
Over the past 5 years, echocardiography witnessed rapid development, with the gradual introduction into clinical practice of: 3D echocardiography; myocardial deformation imaging with sophisticated post-processing of data, enabling advanced assessment of left and right ventricular function with use of strain and strain rate imaging; the use of second generation intravenous contrast agents, not only to improve image quality but also to assess myocardial perfusion; and many other technological developments.
State-of-the-art lectures will provide cardiologists and those interested in cardiac ultrasound with a review of all current clinical challenges and new developments, and how to implement them in daily practice. Particular emphasis will be on quantitative Doppler haemodynamics, state-of-the-art 3D and 4D echocardiography, the role of echo in arrhythmias, diastology, and how to assess valve regurgitation in the 21st century, as well as echo in emergencies and other important clinical scenarios. Lectures will be delivered by highquality international masters of echocardiography, including Professors Joseph Kisslo (USA), Itzhak Kronzon (USA), Michael Zuber (Switzerland), Luc Pierard (Belgium), Francesco Faletra (Switzerland), Joachim Nesser (Austria), Raphael Rosenhek (Austria), and Mark Monaghan, Roxy Senior and Mike Bellamy from the UK.
The course is known for the extensive discussions and interactions between participants and faculty, and is supported by the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging.
The course is taking place in one of the most spectacular locations in Europe in the city of Davos. It is the highest city in Europe, situated at 1560 metres above see level. It is renowned for hosting the annual World Economic Forum, as well as many other medical meetings as it has an impressive Conference Centre.
We are both looking forward to see you in Davos on 26th February 2018.
