Firmly, the bearing capacity test of 1:1 equal ratio pillar under different constraint forms and different filling medium conditions was carried out. The results show that the binding pillar-forming effect is relatively good. The constraint ability of unconstrained, metal mesh, polyester mesh, hooked iron flat-hoop bushing, bellows, and spiral iron pipe is enhanced, in turn, and the carrying capacity is improved successfully. The homogeneity of high-water materials is better than concrete, and they have better compressibility, but their carrying capacity is relatively weak. The carrying capacity of concrete pillars is generously higher than that of high-water materials, but the compressibility is poor. Second, the migration characteristics of the surrounding rock structure of the gob-side entry retaining and the rule of side support are analyzed, the requirements of the side support are pointed out, and the side-support technology of the binding pillar is proposed. Taking Hijiata Mine’s 50108 working face gob-side entry retaining as an example, the bellows pump-filled concrete pillar is used as the side support body, supplemented by handling steel mesh and air-duct cloth, and toughness material is sprayed between the pillars to seal the goaf, meeting the requirements of side support and road stability. The pillar has the characteristics of high early strength, strong final consolidation carrying capacity, good crimping effect, high mechanism degree, fast construction speed, less concrete consumption, low comprehensive cost, etc., and it has a good application prospect in the gob-side entry retaining or rapid advanced working face. In order to study the mechanical performance and friction slip mechanism of the interface of a composite timber column under inclined deformation, the unilateral contact mechanical model of an ancient composite timber column under inclined deformation is proposed in this paper. According to the limit of the inclination angle of slip point and the limit of the inclination angle of slip surface, the failure modes of the combination’s interface can be divided into three stages: the fully sticky stage, the partially sticky stage and the sliding stage. The theoretical results of the sliding displacement and shear stiffness of the combination’s interface under the effect of iron hoops were obtained by using the elastic mechanics method. Based on the shear sliding test of a composite timber column’s interface under the effect of iron hoops, the influences of different parameters on the shear sliding performance of the combination’s interface were investigated. The test results show that the number and the spacing of the iron hoops and the inclination angle of the interface are important factors affecting the shear strength of the combination’s interface. The shear strength of the interface increased with the increase in the number of iron hoops and the inclination angle of the interface. Since hoop spacing that is too large or too small cannot effectively improve the shear capacity of the interface, there is an optimal value for the hoop spacing. Full article

The surface finish was extensively studied in usual machining processes (turning, milling, and drilling). For these processes, the surface finish is strongly influenced by the cutting feed and the tool nose radius. However, a basic understanding of tool/surface finish interaction and residual stress generation has been lacking. This paper aims to investigate the surface finish and residual stresses under the orthogonal cutting since it can provide this information by avoiding the effect of the tool nose radius. The orthogonal machining of AA7075-T651 alloy through a series of cutting experiments was performed under dry conditions. Surface finish was studied using height and amplitude distribution roughness parameters. SEM and EDS were used to analyze surface damage and built-up edge (BUE) formation. An analysis of the surface topography showed that the surface roughness was sensitive to changes in cutting parameters. It was found that the formation of BUE and the interaction between the tool edge and the iron-rich intermetallic particles play a determinant role in controlling the surface finish during dry orthogonal machining of the AA7075-T651 alloy. Hoop stress was predominantly compressive on the surface and tended to be tensile with increased cutting speed. The reverse occurred for the surface axial stress. The smaller the cutting feed, the greater is the effect of cutting speed on both axial and hoop stresses. By controlling the cutting speed and feed, it is possible to generate a benchmark residual stress state and good surface finish using dry machining. Full article
