With the rapid development of intelligent transportation systems, voice assistants are increasingly integrated into driving environments, providing an effective means to mitigate the risks of fatigued driving. This study explored drivers’ interaction preferences with voice assistants under different fatigue states and proposed a fatigue-state-based dialogue-awakening mechanism. Using Grounded Theory and the Stimulus–Organism–Response (SOR) framework, in-depth interviews were conducted with 25 drivers from diverse occupational backgrounds. To validate the qualitative findings, a driving simulation experiment was carried out to examine the effects of different voice interaction styles on driver fatigue arousal across various fatigue levels. Results indicated that heavily fatigued drivers preferred highly stimulating and interactive voice communication; mildly fatigued drivers tended toward gentle and socially supportive dialogue; while drivers in a non-fatigued state preferred minimal voice interference, activating voice assistance only when necessary. Significant occupational differences were also observed: long-haul truck drivers emphasized practicality and safety in voice assistants, taxi drivers favored voice interactions combining navigation and social content, and private car owners preferred personalized and emotional support. This study enriches the theoretical understanding of fatigue-sensitive voice interactions and provides practical guidance for the adaptive design of intelligent voice assistants, promoting their application in driving safety. Pastoral supervision and spiritual direction are inherently personal in nature. They reveal a transformative life of spiritual and soul care demanding the formation of theological reflection, healing, guidance, and discernment. Whilst pastoral supervision serves to guide theological reflection on service and mission, spiritual direction facilitates the moments of awakening to the presence and narrative of God’s grace and work in the depths of the soul. Under the light of Catholic Social Teaching, the notions of solidarity and subsidiarity will be pressed into service to unveil a common spiritual–theological foundation animating the roots of both these ministries. To understand the common dynamics of pastoral supervision and spiritual direction, the article develops a spiritual theology to reveal that both ministries, however distinct in practice, share the same incarnational (creative) and redemptive (re-creative) qualities. In other words, they both share the same source, root, origin, or existence in God’s word and grace. This comes to light by learning to pronounce love in truth, a prophetical work of solidarity and subsidiarity, of friendship and sharing orienting integral human development to listen and respond to God’s movement. The actions of solidarity and subsidiarity are rooted in the beatitude of righteousness revealing the little goodness, a work of possibility and responsibility. Such actions serve to transform the time of ministry into spaces of blessing and mystery, of appreciating the sacredness and unknowability of the other with boldness, curiosity and gentleness. The article concludes by showing how both ministries of pastoral supervision and spiritual direction share the spiritual-pastoral appeal to form communities witnessing the little goodness of love in truth. In this paper, our design aims to assist in sleep inertia reduction and avoid the startle response and irritation caused by alarm-made unpleasant wakeup stimuli. Thus, we propose an approach that employs a soft and alerting sunrise simulation, conditionally utilizes natural light, and appropriately lowers the bedroom temperature for awakening a sleeper tenderly and gradually to gain full alertness. This approach is inspired by known scientific implications confirming the effectiveness of lights and temperatures on wakefulness. In this regard, we present an economical do-it-yourself digital tech-assisted system for bedroom lighting and temperature control. The system design is based on the smartphone and Internet of Things (IoT) technology. We develop the hardware and software in the system for implementing three IoT-based control tasks. One is the tuning of artificial light brightness using the pulse width modulation technique. Another is the opening of the window curtain using stepper motor control and light detection. The other is the activation of the air-conditioning setting using an infrared remote control and temperature detection. We construct a testbed for conducting experiments. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system can execute task requirements satisfactorily. The proposed system is promising for achieving our goal. It embodies features of sustainability. Full article
