In the present work, the influence of external X-ray radiation on the kinetics of multicharged ions in high-temperature plasma is investigated. A generalized diagnostic approach is proposed for the electron density and temperature measurements of photo-pumped plasma based on the relative intensity of the H-like ion resonance line and its dielectronic satellites. Based on detailed kinetic calculations performed for argon plasma, the conditions under which these techniques can be applied without modification to the photo-pumped plasma are determined, and the relative intensities of these lines are calculated for cases where the external influence significantly alters the kinetics of their excitation. The development of such diagnostic methods is of particular importance for the experiments with powerful X-ray free-electron lasers and thermonuclear laser plasma. Full article

The multi-configurational Dirac–Hartree–Fock method has been used to examine the electron correlation effect on wavelengths and transition rates for LK transitions occurring in He- and Li-like nickel ions. The collisional-radiative modelling approach has been used to simulate the X-ray spectra, in a 1.585–1.620 Å wavelength range, originating from the He-like nickel ions and their dielectronic Li-, Be-, and B-like satellites for various electron temperature values in the 2 keV to 8 keV range. The presented results may be useful in improving the plasma electron temperature diagnostics based on nickel spectra. Full article

In the paper, an X-ray spectroscopy-based approach on laser pulse temporal profile characterization is described. The structure of dielectronic satellites to H-like Lyα lines strongly depends on a plasma electron density, so it can be applied for diagnostics. These spectral lines are mainly emitted during initial stage of laser plasma expansion. It means that plasma parameters obtained via them characterizes matter conditions in a region surrounding a spot of laser-matter interaction. In the case when a laser contrast is high enough, the radiation interacts with cold matter, which had not been preliminary perturbed by a laser prepulse, and the satellites structure shape corresponding to high densities should be observed. It allows us to consider the satellites as a diagnostic tool for the laser temporal profile quality. In the paper dependencies of the dielectronic satellites structure on electron densities obtained from detailed kinetic calculations in the wide range of plasma parameter for different elements are under discussion. Fundamental theoretical aspects of plasma diagnostic based on the feature of satellite structures shape in hot dense plasma, which led to development of the proposed method, are also explained.
