Cross-Department Coordination of Emergency Management (CDCEM) is considered a critical dimension in China to solve the problem of emergency management. The Decision Experiment and Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) is a method used to build the structural correlation of criteria in uncertain environments to identify critical success factors (CSFs). There are coupling correlations and one-way correlations for interrelationship comparisons between selected factors of CDCEM. Therefore, there are two different assessment scales. However, most previous studies applied the DEMATEL method with a single assessment scale to identify CSFs. To fill this gap, an IFS-IVIFS-DEMATEL method is provided to comprehensively identify the CSFs of CDCEM in this study. The intuitionistic fuzzy set (IFS) is regarded as the assessment scales of coupling correlation, and the interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy set (IFIVS) is regarded as the assessment scales of one-way correlation. The two different types of assessment scales were transformed into interval information in the improved approach. Then, using the conduction correlation among factors, a comprehensive correlation matrix was constructed. After that, the ranking of the central degree and cause degree of the factors according to the traditional DEMATEL method was obtained. Finally, a case study of Nanjing’s CDCEM was illustrated to demonstrate that the proposed method is more suitable and reasonable. It is found that the factors of “cross-department organization”, “cross-department information communication and transmission”, “information sharing technology platform”, “cross-department material supply capability”, and “cross-department prediction and early warning” in Nanjing are CSFs in CDCEM, which should be emphasized to strengthen CDCEM. The findings of this study shed light on the cross-department coordination of emergency management mechanisms in uncertain situations, which would be beneficial for improving the efficiency of governmental management. This study seeks to find the appropriate strategies necessary to make sustainable and effective hydrogen energy investments. Within this scope, nine different criteria are defined regarding social, managerial, and financial factors. A hesitant, interval-valued, intuitionistic fuzzy (IVIF) decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) methodology is considered to calculate the degree of importance of the criteria. Additionally, impact relation maps are also generated to visualize the causality relationship between the factors. The findings indicate that the technical dimension has the greatest importance in comparison to managerial and financial factors. Furthermore, it is also concluded that storage and logistics, research and development, and technological infrastructure are the most significant factors to be considered when defining hydrogen energy investment strategies. Hence, before investing in hydrogen energy, necessary actions should be taken to minimize the storage and logistic costs. Among them, building the production site close to the usage area will contribute significantly to this purpose. In this way, possible losses during the transportation of hydrogen can be minimized. Moreover, it is essential to identify the lowest-cost hydrogen storage method by carrying out the necessary research and development activities, thereby increasing the sustainability and effectiveness of hydrogen energy investment projects. The sustainability in energy industry is one of the most prominent issues in emerging economies because of needs for the long-term growth of production and managerial capacity. Accordingly, corporate governance could lead to develop the sustainable production of energy industry. The purpose of this study is to define a set of criteria and dimensions for analyzing the corporate governance-based strategic approach to sustainability in the energy industry of emerging economies. For this purpose, this study provides several novelties by extending a hybrid decision making model with interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IVIF) and defining the related criteria and dimensions of corporate governance-based strategic approach with the supported literature. IVIF decision making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) is constructed for measuring the relative importance of criteria and dimensions. IVIF VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) is applied for ranking the corporate governance-based performance of sustainable energy industries in emerging economies. Sensitivity analysis is also used for understanding the coherence of ranking results. Analysis results illustrate that the energy industry could provide more sustainable results than the conventional managerial policies by considering the social capital of board members. Additionally, mass-economies are closely related to the sustainable production capacities of energy industry and have the best performance results for the corporate governance-based sustainable energy production strategies. The results are discussed to provide the policy recommendations by comparing analysis results of emerging economies for further studies. Full article
