Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Brain tumors represent a significant challenge in clinical oncology, with their diverse histological and molecular characteristics contributing to their complexity and heterogeneity. Over the years, remarkable progress has been made in elucidating the underlying molecular pathology of brain tumors, providing valuable insights into their development, progression, and potential therapeutic targets. This Special Issue aims to highlight the latest advancements in our understanding of the molecular pathology of brain tumors, with a focus on emerging technologies, novel biomarkers, and therapeutic strategies.

Advancements in high-throughput genomic profiling, such as next-generation sequencing and single-cell genomics, have revolutionized the field of brain tumor research. These technologies have enabled comprehensive molecular characterization of tumors, uncovering previously unrecognized subtypes and molecular alterations that drive tumorigenesis. By integrating multi-omics data, including genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, and proteomics, researchers have gained a deeper understanding of the complex molecular networks underlying brain tumor development and progression.

Furthermore, the identification of specific molecular biomarkers has paved the way for more precise diagnosis, prognostication, and personalized treatment approaches. Through the identification of genetic alterations, gene expression signatures, and aberrant signaling pathways, clinicians and researchers can stratify patients into distinct molecular subgroups with unique clinical characteristics and treatment responses. This stratification enables tailored therapeutic strategies, including targeted therapies and immunotherapies, to maximize treatment efficacy and minimize adverse effects.

In addition to molecular profiling and biomarker discovery, this Special Issue also aims to explore emerging therapeutic avenues in the field of brain tumor pathology. Advances in targeted therapies, immunotherapies, and combination treatment modalities have shown promising results in preclinical and early clinical studies. The integration of molecular profiling data with therapeutic response data can help identify biomarkers predictive of treatment response, facilitating the development of more effective and personalized therapeutic regimens.

Overall, this Special Issue provides a platform for researchers, clinicians, and scientists to share their latest findings and perspectives on the molecular pathology of brain tumors. By fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange, we aim to accelerate the translation of these molecular insights into improved diagnostic approaches and innovative therapeutic strategies. Ultimately, our collective efforts in understanding the intricate molecular landscape of brain tumors will contribute to improved patient outcomes and pave the way for precision medicine in the field of neuro-oncology.

All papers will be published on an ongoing basis with full open access. We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Molecular Pathology is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1000 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
