Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The region of Central Asia, which stretches from the Iranian Plateau to the Tarim Basin, and from the Hindu Kush to the Siberian steppe, has been a key component of numerous major imperial states from the early second millennium BCE through to the twentieth century. Located at the ‘crossroads of Eurasia’, Central Asia has also played a key role in transregional and trans-civilizational exchanges via the Silk Roads and other major trade routes.  This Special Issue of Humanities explores some of the key civilizations and cultures that have played a role in the history of Central Asia, and as befits a journal dedicated to achievements in the humanities, focuses in particular on the artistic, architectural, religious and intellectual achievements of these important civilizations and cultures.
