Hormones, secreted by the endocrine system, play an important role in the communication and regulation of the cells of the immune system. The best-known route of information transfer from the immune system to the endocrine system is in the form of cytokines in humoral form. Efferent signals from the endocrine system to the immune system are conveyed by both the neuroendocrine and autonomic nervous systems. The endocrine system and immune system share a common biochemical language involving shared ligands and receptors, such as neurotransmitters, neuropeptides, growth factors, neuroendocrine hormones, and cytokines, enabling systemic and local regulatory mechanisms. This Section welcomes manuscript submissions dealing with all aspects of endocrine immunology, cytokines and cell signaling, including original and review articles, and commentaries on clinical and basic research.
Topics within the scope of this section include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal;
