Fire | Recruiting Editorial Board Members and Topical Advisory Panel Members for Section “Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Simulation of Combustion and Fire”

Fire (ISSN: 2571-6255) is an international open access journal pertaining to the science, policy, and technology of fires and their interactions with communities and the environment. To develop a forum for the advancement of mathematical modeling and numerical simulation in the prediction and analysis of fire and combustion phenomena, we are pleased to announce the addition of a new Section “Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Simulation of Combustion and Fire”.

Combustion and fire science share the same fundamentals, but differ in their focus of application. Traditionally, the two subjects have been treated as distinct groups. This Section considers the common fundamentals and similarities between the two disciplines and provides a common platform. This should improve communication between the two research areas and serve to better exploit the existing synergetic potential.

Numerical simulations are increasingly used as predictive tools. With the increase in available computer resources as well as computational methods, the importance of simulation techniques is constantly growing. This Section is intended to reflect this and to emphasize the importance of modeling and simulation in combustion and fire research. It provides a dedicated platform for scientists and engineers to disseminate information on the development and improvement of mathematical and numerical models as well as software tools for the prediction and analysis of combustion, fire, and related phenomena.

We believe that application work can be as valuable as development work. Therefore, innovative applications of models and software tools are equally encouraged.

Although this Section is primarily concerned with the development and application of mathematical and numerical methods and software tools, adequately documented experimental studies that can serve as a database for model validation are also welcome.

We are currently recruiting Editorial Board Members (EBMs) and Topical Advisory Panel Members (TAPMs) for this Section. If you are an active researcher in this field and are passionate about publishing cutting-edge research, please contact us by email at [email protected].

Please also feel free to contact [email protected] if you would like to submit papers to this Section.
