In an era where global environmental and public health challenges intersect with emerging opportunities, the launch of the journal
Green Health (ISSN 3042-5832) [
1] represents a vital and timely initiative. The journal’s mission is both unique and significant, aiming to address pressing global issues while fostering a sustainable future for human health and the environment.
The interconnection between the environment and human health is undeniable. We observe how environmental changes profoundly influence the quality of life and overall health, ranging from the devastating impacts of climate change-induced extreme weather on vulnerable populations to the subtle yet pervasive effects of materials, foods, and spatial environments we encounter daily. These phenomena underscore the urgency of exploring and advancing the concept of green health.
Green Health is an international, open access journal committed to promoting knowledge at the nexus of environmental sustainability and public health. Its scope encompasses original research articles, comprehensive reviews, and short communications, all aimed at fostering sustainable development for both human well-being and the environment.
Our objective is both clear and ambitious: to go beyond identifying environmental and health-related problems and to provide actionable solutions that address these challenges. We particularly encourage studies that combine problem identification with the development of practical and scalable solutions. For example, in the domain of cumulative health risk assessment related to human exposure to multiple environmental pollutants, we welcome research that not only identifies the potential impacts of various pollutants but also ‘pioneers’ methodologies for quantifying cumulative health risks. Such approaches can enable more precise health risk assessments for specific regions or populations, ultimately guiding the formulation of targeted intervention measures.
Recognizing the importance of supporting high-quality research, Green Health offers an opportunity to publish without financial barriers. Manuscripts submitted by 30 June 2025 and accepted through the standard peer-review process will incur no article processing charges (APCs). This initiative reflects our commitment to accessibility and inclusivity in disseminating critical scientific knowledge.
Beyond serving as a platform for scientific publication, Green Health aspires to be a bridge connecting global researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders dedicated to environmental and public health. We invite authors, scientists, and scholars to share their cutting-edge discoveries, innovative solutions, and practical experiences in the field of green health. Simultaneously, we encourage readers to join us in following the journal’s progress, contributing to the collective growth and advancement of this crucial area. Together, let us build a more sustainable and healthier future.
