It is my great honor and pleasure to announce the launch of LabMed (ISSN: 2813-9038) [1], a new peer-reviewed and open access journal in the field of laboratory medicine. In 2022, it was initially proposed to establish an academic journal focused on laboratory medicine. After several meetings and communications with MDPI staff, we reached a formal agreement to cooperate and began to promote the journal’s creation in March 2024. The journal started more smoothly than expected.
Laboratory medicine, without a doubt, plays an important and occasionally essential role in diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, prognosis estimation, and prevention of diseases. The COVID-19 pandemic has heightened the significance of laboratory medicine to an unprecedented extent in the early detection and control of disease [2]. The pandemic has also greatly promoted the rapid development of laboratory medicine [3]. For example, numerous companies that previously specialized in pharmaceuticals have expanded to include the research and development of in vitro diagnostic instruments and kits.
The aim of LabMed is to provide an academic platform to showcase these rapid advancements, a platform where researchers and other health workers can present their high-quality research, innovative approaches, novel technologies, keen perspectives, and recent trends in the continuously changing field of laboratory medicine. Papers that represent breakthroughs in this area are encouraged to be included in this open access journal. Furthermore, we have assembled a well-respected editorial board composed of experts with diverse research expertise, who are committed to maintaining the highest standards of peer review and editorial oversight.
We warmly invite you to submit your works to our journal, and we look forward to receiving your manuscripts. Thank you for your support and engagement.
