Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Dear authors

thank you very much for sharing your work. It is scientific sound, well written and scientific sound. The paper advances the state of knowledge in a very limited way, but it is a an interesting case study.

I am not that happy with the performed subsice charpy tests. It is known that very subsize specimen scatter a lot and are not that reliable.

But overall i think it can be published.

Kind regards

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This work compared the complex phase steels, CPW 800 class, with and without the use of laser welding, to study the mechanical properties of this material. Some revisions are needed for the manuscript:

1.      There are many grammatical errors in the manuscript and the English must be improved.

2.      For laser welding in Introduction, the authors should present a thorough literature review for laser welding of steels rather than introduction of laser welding.

3.      In Introduction, the novelty and significance of the work is not clear.

4.      Labels should be added in the SEM images of Figure 6 and Figure 7 explaining the details of the laser welded zone.

5.      The title of Figure 6 and Table 6 should be concise. The detailed description should be in the main text.

6.      Scale bar is missing for Figure 11.
