It gives me great pleasure to announce the launch of our new MDPI journal, Literature (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/literature). It took a long time to reach this stage, in fact, the idea was first conceived back in 2015, and we obtained ISSN 2410-9789 for Literature (Basel) in that same year, on 30 March 2015. Following years of preparation, we are now ready to formally launch this exciting new journal.
It is probably unnecessary to explain how pertinent it is to have a journal dedicated to literature in all its forms. Literature has played a pivotal role in humanity since ancient times, and despite the recent focus on STEM disciplines around the world, literature is still much cherished and valued. This is proven by the Nobel Prize for Literature (https://www.nobelprize.org/), awarded yearly as per the will of Swedish inventor and industrialist Alfred Bernhard Nobel and presented by the Swedish Academy. Our aim with this journal is to promote the continued importance of literature in society today and to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge around literature and literature research.
Literature (ISSN 2410-9789) will be an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal on literature and cultural studies published quarterly online by MDPI.
We are pleased that Prof. Dr. Jerome F. Bump from University of Texas at Austin, USA will serve as the Editor-in-Chief and assume leadership of the journal. We plan to release the inaugural issue in September 2021.
MDPI has been celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2021 (https://www.mdpi.com/anniversary25) and as with our other MDPI journals, we will maintain a fast and rigorous peer-review process (https://publons.com/journal) for this new journal. It is our sincere hope that you will enjoy publishing your works with us.
