Title: Study on the Algae Lysis Method of White Rot Fungus Algae Control System
Authors: Jun Wang, Guoming Zeng, Fei Wang, Xin Huang, Yan Li, Dong Liang, Maolan Zhang, Da Sun
Type of manuscript: Article
The work is an important contribution to improve the current knowledge of biological algae control technology and the management of microorganisms, particularly Scenedesmus quadricauda, in eutrophic water bodies.
The manuscript looks interesting, the investigation is well set up, rigorous and complete.
The figures/tables/ phylogenetics trees are well made and easy to understand.
A consideration regarding the bibliography: cold be better updated, only three citations are recent, the others date back to 10-20 years ago.
Anyway congratulations, it's a great job.
I have no major revisions to propose, only minor revisions.
The work therefore deserves to be published.
Minor revisions:
line 16… In this paper, the eutrophic shallow……please specify better, as follows….. In this paper, the green alga eutrophic shallow…;
Line 25: Scenedesmus quadricauda….. usually affiliation is also reported in binomial nomenclature. Therefore it is better to specify as follows: Scenedesmus quadricauda (Turpin) Brebisson, 1835. See also The Register of Antarctic Species https://ras.biodiversity.aq/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=596169
Line 64: is it correct alginolytic?...may be algolytic?..as reported on line 290?
Line 69: white rot fungus…in other line is reported white rot-fungi, with dash (check line 242);
Line 79: Agal cultures , please change in Algal cultures;
Line 239: bacteria liquid. among them……….. there is a point without meaning;
Line 243: algae lysis as a assist………………… a dot is missing at the end of the sentence;
Line 326: Figure 8…….. the pattern is interesting but appears slightly out of focus;
Refrences:
line 413: ………;Qin, B.Q.; Li, Y.P. Gardner, W.S. ….. a semicolon is missing…. ;Qin, B.Q.; Li, Y.P. ;Gardner, W.S.

This manuscript describes a method for algae lysis of harmful algae blooms using white rot fungus rather than physical/chemical methods. It is a rather novel method that may be ultimately less harmful to the overall biological health of the natural ecosystem. However, the procedure described within the manuscript only describes the procedure for the lysis and does not address any effects on the overall health and function of other plankton and metazoans. Ultimately it will be necessary to produce further studies to move the procedures from small beakers to open waters before the practical use of the procedures can be evaluated. It should also be noted that the English, punctuation and sentence construction requires numerous modifications and corrections.

Title: Study on the Algae Lysis Method of White Rot Fungus Algae Control System.
The manuscript is dealing with the Investigation of Microbial algae lysis, as a new process of green treatment technology for inhibiting the growth of harmful algal blooms and by the way improving the quality of the water environment.
Although the work is interesting, it seems to me that the originality is not justified enough.
Minor Comments:
- In the abstract and in all MS, most of the abbreviation was used (DHA, MDA, HRT, FTIR, TPF…etc.) without any previous explication of the meaning. Please check and correct it!
- You wrote “ The results showed that the best algae solubilization effect of the algae control system was achieved at 250mg/L, DO8mg/L, and HRT 48h. The average algae lysis rate was 85.48%, the average DHA reduction rate was 59.23%, the average soluble protein reduction rate was 65.16% and the average MDA increased to 0.128umol/L”
Q1 please paraphrase the information in order to be understood! Reading the summary should be very sufficiently informative
Line 114 -120 In Experimental methods should be rewritten and given more details related to the experiment methods… table 2 has no signification?
Line 228-231 -
You wrote: “According to the above experimental results, it is found that the algal bloom phenomenon of algae appears when the white-rot fungus liquid is directly added to the working condition 1, working condition 2 also had some algae bloom and algae solubilization effect, working condition 3 algae bloom effect was not obvious and the algae solubilization rate was low, but still had some effect” …
Q2 -I think that’s not so good writing, can you be more clear and more convincing
Major comments
- The part relating to the statistical analysis of the data has been neglected. I only see the signaling of the use of the Origin 8.0 software for plotting graphics and determining the standard error. We think that using other more powerful statistical tools to describe the results and analyze the differences between the different treatments would be the judicious one.
- You wrote, “The results of this research will provide a theoretical basis for the management of microorganisms in eutrophic water bodies. How can you confirm firmly that the practice is a stable, efficient, and safe biological algae control technique in realistic conditions “in the environment”.

The manuscript in its revised state seems to be more acceptable than before.
I think that the comments made, although partially,
have been taken into consideration.
