Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This manuscript could provide important information on the cp genome and related species of C. cathayensis.

I would like to recommend some suggestions like below.

  1. 'variants' in line 27 needs to be revised to 'varieties'.
  2.  More detailed comparison with previously reported genome and discussions need to be presented, because that would better for easy understanding for readers.

Author Response

Dear reviewers:

This is resubmission of the paper titled “The Complete Chloroplast Genome of Carya cathayensis and Phylogenetic Analysis”.

We wish to thank you for the time and effort you have spent reviewing our paper. We are pleased to note that you have found our research work interesting and also pointed out some problems to help us improve the quality of our work.

Motivated by your comments, we have tried to fix all the problems you mentioned in manuscript.

Our itemized responses to your questions, comments and suggestions are as follows:

General Comment 1: 'variants' in line 27 needs to be revised to 'varieties'.

Response: We had change “variants” to “varieties”. ( Line 27)

General Comment 2: More detailed comparison with previously reported genome and discussions need to be presented, because that would better for easy understanding for readers.

Response: We had provided the detailed comparison with previously reported genome and presented in discussion. Any revisions made to the manuscript had been marked up using the “Track Changes” function.

Reviewer 2 Report

The Ms entitled “The Complete Chloroplast Genome of Carya cathayensis and 2 Phylogenetic Analysis” by Shen et al, reported the complete chloroplast genome of C. cathayensis. They have identified  129 genes, including 84 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA 14 genes, and 8 rRNA genes along with 252 SSRs and 55 long-repeats.

It is a comprehensive and complete study. The experiments were well designed and executed. Manuscript is well composed.
