This article combines numerical simulation and field monitoring methods to study the stability of the overlying Liuyang River embankment in the tunnel crossing between Huaqiao Station and Rice Museum Station of Changsha Metro’s Line 6. Using AutoCAD, 3Dmine, and COMSOL Multiphysics, a calculation model of the entire subway tunnel section crossing the flood control embankment under the coupling of fluids and solids was established. The process of tunnel-crossing the embankment and the variation in spatial displacement and plastic strain in different geological layers were analyzed from the perspective of time evolution and spatial distribution. The research results show that during the process of crossing the embankment, the deformation of the east bank is greater than that of the west bank, and crossing the west bank is the relatively riskier stage of the entire project. Moreover, during the process of crossing the embankment, the overlying soil layer will produce a plastic strain zone, and only a small amount of plastic strain is generated in the surrounding sandstone layer of the tunnel walls. In terms of the magnitude of plastic strain, the plastic strain area produced by the leading tunnel’s surrounding rocks is larger than that of the following tunnel. As the excavation progresses, a funnel-shaped settlement displacement gradually forms during the passage of the leading tunnel, and this settlement funnel gradually expands during the passage of the following tunnel, with the maximum settlement point transitioning from directly above the leading tunnel to the middle position between the two tunnels. Using the jitter filter algorithm and the adjacent average method to process the field monitoring data, the results show that the monitored deformation results well match the simulated settlement results. This study focused on the extreme heavy rainstorm that occurred in Zhengzhou in July 2021; approximately 380 people were killed or missing as a result of this storm. To investigate the evolution behaviors of this rainstorm and take corresponding prevention measures, several methods and models were adopted, including cloud modeling, preliminary hazard analysis (PHA), fault tree analysis (FTA), bow-tie modeling, and chaos theory. The main reasons for this rainstorm can be divided into the following three aspects: force majeure, such as terrain and extreme weather conditions, issues with city construction, and insufficient emergency rescue. The secondary disasters caused by this rainstorm mainly include urban water logging, river flooding, and mountain torrents and landslides. The main causes of the subway line-5 accident that occurred can be described as follows: the location of the stabling yard was low, the relevant rules and regulations of the subway were not ideal, insufficient attention was given to the early warning information, and the emergency response mechanism was not ideal. Rainstorms result from the cross-coupling of faults in humans, objects, the environment, and management subsystems, and the evolution process shows an obvious butterfly effect. To prevent disasters caused by rainstorms, the following suggestions should be adopted: vigorously improve the risk awareness and emergency response capabilities of leading cadres, improve the overall level of urban disaster prevention and mitigation, reinforce the existing reservoirs in the city, strengthen the construction of sponge cities, and improve the capacity of urban disaster emergency rescue. The cross-river subway in the Hangzhou Bay area often passes through deep, thick, soft soil at the bottom of the river. At the same time, overlying erosion, siltation, and changes in water levels adversely affect the deformation of the subway, thereby causing hidden dangers to its safe operation. Using two-way dynamic triaxial testing, the effects of cyclic loading of the cross-river subway on the soft clay foundation were investigated for the first time, using simulation methodology as the prime objective of the present study. A strain development curve for the soft clay was obtained as a result. Considering the effects of effective confining pressure (p′) and radial cyclic stress ratio (τr), an explicit model of accumulative strain on soft clay under cyclic loading of the cross-river subway was established. The results showed that the accumulative axial strain (εd) was closely related to p′ and τr. Under certain conditions, as p′ and τr increased, the εd produced by the soil tended to decrease. Furthermore, through non-destructive testing based on nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), pore distribution and pore size changes in soft clay during cyclic loading were analyzed. It was observed that under the action of the cross-river loading, the large internal soft clay pores were transformed into small pores, which manifested as a significant decrease in the number of large pores and an increase in the proportion of small pores. Lastly, the macroscopic dynamic soil characteristics observed during triaxial testing closely correlated with the microscopic pore size of the soil obtained in the NMR test, which indicated that using pore distribution and pore size changes to describe microscopic changes was a valid method.
